I have a 1999 Grand Prix GT. I was driving on the highway today and the ABS light came on and traction light showed traction off. Lights continued to stay on until I got home. I turned car off and started back up again and lights were on again. I haven't had any work done there recently. Any suggesions. I has been snowing alot here lately.

Does your ABS brakes work? If not, find someone to tell you what the code is. You might have to replace the motor. I think I paid like $200 for labor of changing the motor. That is not a do-it-yourself job. The gears have to be PERFECTLY lined up. Look at www.gmpartsdirect.com if you need to buy the motor.

The same thing happened to me... it was the cheapest and easiest thing I ever fixed on the car. All you have to do is go buy a $2.00 roll of black electrical tape, and affix over the light.

It'll never come on again.

Sensor went out. Pretty common. Have to replace the Hub since the sensor and bearings are all one unit. And if you have any mechanical know how it can be done yourself. But you will have to have the code read to find out which wheel sensor went bad.

what motor are you talkin about. Some one pullin the wool over your eyes that the teeth have to be perfectly lined up. It doesnt count rotation it reads an electrical signal its a little generator and when the vots are off by what ever is set at the factory then the ABS/Traction kicks in.

Wool over my eyes....maybe by the installer. I had it diagnosed at the assembly plant here in NJ. My dad's friend said that the resistance to the motor was not correct. What had to be done was to replace the motor. The person I had try to install it was a good friends cousin that was a mechanic. I kinda believe him. What ever is wrong with his car, he needs to know the code.

Had the same problem. Mine was the wire on the pass side came loose from its attachment and was rubbing on the crank pulley and shorting out. put tape on it and reattached it to the car. I would also make sure all the wheel connections are tight and dry. If that ain't it, probably a sensor. I would also suggest not doing the STUPID tape on the light idea P'CHOP thumbsup

My ABS light came on in my Bronco once. Out of curiosity, I checked my brake fluid level. It was low. I filled it and the light went off.

The wires connected to the sensors are especially likely to break on the front wheels, with all the turning and suspension jounce and all.
