It does raise the shift points. Noticeably firmer shifts. Less wear on the tranny too.

This is a big complaint I have with my 03 GTP. The tranny's ratio is not close enough. Even when you wind it out, when it shifts at 5800 rpm's, the engine's rpm's drop too low. You really feel the power drop off before it builds again. A major performance flaw in my opinion. I know that if the ratio was tighter, you're looking at close to a half second quicker to 60 and 6 tenths of a second quicker to the qtr mile (give or take a tenth). The new replacement for the Grand Am, the G6, will have a 250hp GTP option and (I think) a six speed standard from the Saab. I don't remember if it's a six or a five speed. This might be my next car.

I'd take a Caddy. I used to have a family of four. Now it's down to three. In 14 more years it might be down to two. Then then the Vette.

Actually performance shift went away (I think) in 2001.
So up to Y2000 GTPs should still have them.
FWIW =)

I want a perf button. Why doesn't mine come with one. Could I just glue one next to the shifter? I can put it next to my rocket booster button.

get a dhp pcm. It allows you to enable the performance shift feature.

FWIW =) Yep, I have a 2000 and it does have it. I think the 01s have it also. Maybe the 02? Since DHP only works when the Perf shift is ON, maybe thats why DHP doesnt have an offering for the 03 gtp? Jeff
