I swapped out my stock thermostat tonight and had everything done. I let it run for ten minutes roughly and coolant started pouring out of the bottom of the car and my temp gauge was as high as it could go. So im assuming it is a bad thermostat?
Any thoughts?

Maybe you got air bubbles into your system

I've never changed the thermostat on this car but I know on some vehicles, its possible to install it upside-down... make sure its in there correctly, and if you still susspect the thermostat... boil a pot of water, once its boiling, drop your thermostat in it, if you see it POP open, then its good, if it just sits there, its bad

I can't imagine a bad Tstat causing coolant to leak all over.

I agree with Herc. Sounds like a loose hose, which dumped coolant, which set off the temp gauge.

Where was the coolant coming from? Specifically?

Oh, and if you make sure all the hoses are reconnected properly, also check the small valve on the top of the Tstat housing. If you left that valve open, the coolant would leak out too.

u have to bleed the system once it gets to operating temp.. crack the bleeder until it comes out as a steady stream of just coolant and no bubles.

I guess it was coming from the planet Uranus,do'nt you just hate that when someone asks for advice then will just say problem fixed? The way we help others with similar problems is to ask for advise then at least give the source of the problem, comon newbie give it up.Chico.
