The "auto-on" feature of my headlights/daytime running lights has quit working. Along with my fan speed control, rear wind defogger and AC. Now, I have done some troubleshooting. The 10A DIC/HVAC fuse is good. I swapped it out and I have checked for voltage to the fuse. I have 13VDC with the fan off and it drops to 4VDC when I turn the fan on. (any speed) Also, the "auto-on" lights and rear window defogger work when the fan switch is in the "OFF" position. Any ideas? Advice? I am on a very tight budget and can't afford to pay out a lot of $$ to get this fixed.

u have a good sized voltage drop in the fan/wires going to the fan. check wires and grounds going to the fan. u could have a bad ground or bad wire.

I have been advised by a GM mechanic to get a body module scan done by a dealership.

As stated in some of the other threads around here, our cars are ridiculously sensitive to electrical problems. I would hafta agree: get a full system check. Does it hafta be from GM? Not necessarily. Find a good shop in town, you should be good. Another first option is check/replace battery and alternator. Good luck. Please let us know what the fault was. Oh, welcome to the board, and we like pics here.

So my mom isn't the only one with a rear window that has a mind of it's own. One time the control on the window didn't work, but the one on the drivers door did...then right after that one was used the one on the passenger door worked again.
Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. I worked on a friend's truck with an issue where whenever the circuit was turned on (in this case, fog lights) voltage dropped way down. The wiring had sort of rotted away in places. I just pulled the damaged section and rewired it. Check for a mouse nest too...could be some mice have made a nest and chewed on some wires.

Possible ignition switch? I've read on clubGP that this can cause problems with your blower fan on low settings, and other misc. electrical issues.
