man, it is never ending! i had a new cat put in, and then my rear o2 sensor went, so i had that replaced. we reset the memory and i drove around for a bit and took it for inspection, i passed inspection but emissions had 2 "incompletes" - the o2 sensor and e-vac. the garage told me to drive it some more to get more memory build up

this morning, my damn check engine light came on AGAIN! i called them and they said they would do a diagnostics check for free since we had some issues.

my quesion is, is it more than likely the o2 sensor or e vac then? i dont know much about repairing the evac (easy job? expensive to fix?) i really hope its a stupid gas cap. im going insane here, i just want my car to pass!!!!!

since august ive:

changed air filter, new spark plugs, new egr, new cat converter, new rear o2 sensor. sweet baby jesus!!!!

Couldn't tell ya... But more than likely the evac seeing as you had a code for it before and it's part of the emissions.

The ease of fixing the evac depends on the component. Which the code should give some indication.

doing it on monday. what stinks is i have until the 17th to redo my emissions so i will have 3 days to rebuild memory after reseting it when it gets (hopefully) fixed.

i have never had such a hard time when it came to inspection. so mad.

ALSO: That's about the only reason I hate PA, is the state inspection and emissions. They ream you every year! .....unless you know a mechanic

Ok, so I couldnt wait until tomorrow and I went to Advance Auto right before work and read it there. The code that they came up with was "catalyst below threshold", the guy said it might be cat converter. I really doubt it becausE I just had it replaced in October (maybe it was a defective one)?

I guess they will do a more in depth read tomorrow.

Emessions test won't see it's been deleted.

gportoulas...do you mean EVAP for EVAC? Yes, the gas cap might be the problem but their are a couple of other things, namely the EVAP Cannister Purge Solenoid or the EVAP Vent Solenoid (and a coupl,e of other things like vacuum lines and Fuel Tank Pressure sensor). The EVAP Purge Solenoid is the easiest to get to. Check that the vacuum line is snuggly in and that the screw cap on the vcauum line is snug. The DTC code that causes this is DTC P0455. The DIC will also show "Check Gas Cap".

PS...We have the same Pain in the A$# emiossion test every 2 years but I guess it's a good thing to keep the "smokers" off the road.

lol, thats it, the EVAP (i miss heard the guy at the garage!) im happy they are doing a free full diagnostics tomorrow. im hoping this emissions nightmare can end.
