I'm buying a 2000 Grand Prix GTX that has the Ram Air hood but no intake box. I can't seem to find a place to buy one. Ideas?

If you just gotta have it, 3800 Performance still lists it on their site: SLP Ram Air Cold Air Induction Airbox 1999-current

It really doesn't do anything? This will be my first Grand Prix. Does the GTX version really have any more horsepower than a regular GTP? Is there any easy mods I can do to boost HP. I won't be racing or anything, just looking to get the most out of a daily driver.

The intake is more free flowing, but honestly no. And the reason it doesn't do much: Supercharger compresses air. Any air "rammed" into the intake through driving is superseded and negated by the supercharger. The main benefit you get is saying you have a functional ram air hood and looking cool. Most people just run fender well intake with a box to keep engine heat out.

BTW, make sure it's a real SLP if you're paying a premium. A lot of people could buy the badges and accessories to just look like one. SLPs had specific rims and what not, and I know on some cars they worked on they even put a special decal on the car marking it as an official SLP. Idk if the GTXs were like that though.

Thanks for the advice. I had that same idea about the badges and whatnot.

SLP claims a 10 hp increase but who knows. They claim its from the ram air but that's bunk and they also claim a 5hp jump from the exhaust which we know is bunk because the stock while not pretty from the U Bend back flows plenty well and no gains are made.

An open cone will net you the most HP for an intake.
