ok, so about 5k ago, i got kyb's put on and my neighbor (the guy who does our auto work) said that they may need to be adjusted and/or drilled or something so that he could line up the car properly. Well at that time, he said to just watch the wear on the tires and then see how they need to be adjusted. so now my tires are wearing on the outside tread of the front driver and passenger tires, so what needs to be done here...I had it lined up 2 times after the orignial install...should I take it back to him, or what's the deal....thanks

Just get a 4 wheel thrust angle alignment. No big deal. I assume what he meant by the grinding is that the slot in the strut needs to be lenghtened to allow the proper adjustment. I don't know about the watch the tire wear, when the tires wear that's it. You don't get that tread back. If this guy does good work why stop taking your car to him? Just get a proffessional alignment and be done with it.

Don't enlongate the holes in the strut towers, we have alignment eccentrics to align the wheels, unlike Mustangs that require csater/camber plates to bring the frontend back into line after lowering. Just get a good 4 wheel alignment, that should cure what ails yeh.

I'm talking about the slots in the struts themselves. Sometimes the slot will hit on the bolt before the wheel hits the alignment spec. When you elongate the slot you allow more adjustment.

Ok... but when you had the 4 wheel alignment done, was the technician able to bring it back into spec.? If not, there's your explanation depending on how close he could get it.

I don't think he could because that is when he said he may have to drill it out...

There's your answer. On my first strut swap I used a Dremel and reamed out one set of holes on each strut. Which hole you ream out is dependent of front to rear strut and forget which is which. A search should get you the answer... or call an alignment shop.

Reaming out the holes in my case allowed the technician to get my alignment back into shape. Actually, I had him build in a little bit of negative camber so the car would corner a little better. Not much... just a little.
