Ok I should start off by saying I in fact do not have a GTP but rather a Fiero that is powered by a 2000 GTP Series II SC motor.

Here is my problem, I keep fuel fouling CYL#2 (Black, dry, smells a bit of gas and is a little shiny. The pulley on this one is 3.4 but that does not matter as it did the same thing with the stock pulley.

Here is what I have done,

#1 Replaced the Valve Stem Seals for CYL#2
#2 Inspected the CAM
#3 Inspected the rockers and pushrods for CYL#2
#4 Replaced the Coil packs (all three of them)
#5 Replaced the ICM (Sits under the coilpacks)
#6 Replaced the plug wires and moved them around
#7 Replaced the plugs with three temp ranges and tried multiple gapping from .40 to .55
#8 Replaced the Fuel injectors
#9 Replaced Fuel rail
#9 Replaced Fuel regulator
#10 Replaced the fuel filter
#11 Replaced the ECM (Computer and prom)

Fuel Pressure is a solid 45 PSI, Comp test gave me 155 PSI on the fuel fouling CYL #2 and 155-160 on the rest.

I do have Spark, Fuel and compression so the question is why it is fuel fouling?

Any ideas? I am about to replace the heads and if that does not work I am going to install a new 3800.

BTW this motor had 200 miles when I installed it and has about 4000 miles on it now.

Thanks!

Well you seem to have covered all your bases,When you say the motor only had 200miles on it when installed was it a rebuild ?or a new motor, and when did this problem start? have you done a leakdown test on #2 cyl ?I ssuppose you have asked this question on the Fiero boards.

Yes I did do a leakdown on it, the motor was 200 Miles not rebuilt. I guess some people just have bad luck and crash new cars.

As far as how hard it pulls all I can say is even with Cyl 2 dead it still does 1.70 60 foot with a 13.8 in the 1/4 and that is at 6000 feet. I should be well into the upper 12's as I only have 2600 pounds to pull around.

On another note the inside of the car is out of a 2003 Firebird so it looks and feels much better then stock.

Also it would seem that it started doing this fuel fouling within a hundred miles of the transplant.

This one is driving me nuts and yes I have posted on the Fiero forums but not that many folks have done this swap and of those who did I have yet to find anyone with this issue.

Since you've covered most everything, the next step would be to pull the head on that bank and check condition of piston unless you can locate a probe scope ,I suspect a chipped piston caused by detonation your custom tuned PCM may be the offending culprit.

What temp range plugs did you try?

I am on Autolite 104's Gapped at .050

But I had this same issue with the stock ECM and plugs so I dont think it was the ECM, hard to say. I think I am gonna yank the Head and have a look.

After trying everything with this engine I started to look at the fuel injector connectors, I found I had a bad connector that would work with my NOID Light but not the injector itself. Took about 10 seconds to clean and repair the connector and now the car is pulling harder then ever, in fact I would say near twice the power as before.

It wheel spins all the way to third gear and I am pulling just over 1G on the strait track.

I will post again with my new 1/4 mile numbers when it starts to warm back up.

My god is it good to have this problem fixed, and yes I know I should have looked at the plug sooner but since the NOID was flashing I did not think it was a bad connection.

Now to order Intense Stage III Heads, Intercooler and CAM.

You know, I never wouldve thought of your setup but, NICE ride. Its like a GP without the weight problem (speaking in terms of weight and numbers not looks) Genius. Sounds like its gonna be a quick one.
