A thermostat swap is supposed to be a pretty easy modification. And I guess it was.

But those f-ing bolts that hold the housing down are in there. I broke 2 10mm sockets in the process. I recommend getting some sockets with warrantys if you are going to do this.

Just letting everyone who want to do this know.

Edit: Also, have a razorblade handy. My gasket had melted to the housing.

i'm thinkin I'm gonna be doin my T-stat pretty soon as well, so this is good info to have.

I'll go along with "you get what you pay for" when it comes to tools...but sometimes you get lucky. I've got a standard/metric 1/4 and 3/8 drive socket set that I got from Kmart 10 years ago. The brandname is "BenchTop" and I have used and abused that set mightily and not the first one has failed in any way...then again I havent put them on my air ratchet or impact gun either.
