i have a 2000 gtp with a CAI, i bought a pulley for the SC and was told i need to buy some seal in the snout of the SC that would need to be replaced after changing the original pulley because of the neccesary heat needed to remove the original pulley. is any of this true? and if so does anyone know what the part number for that seal is or where i could get it? or on the other hand is changing the pulley a simple swap in which only a puller tool is needed? thanks everyone i apreciate any feedback i recieve!

Yeah, heed these words. I have read horror stories of the dreaded "pully" job luckily and unfortunately, I do not have a supercharger on mine ...(yet..)

Also... do not use a sledgehammer during the install.

if possible order the pulley biys quick change system because it comes with the pulley and the system comes with a hub that you put on the snout to change the pulley in and out with... if you have I think it is a idler pulley remover that will also work

If you get a ZZP MPS, you can convert to an 8 rib setup later down the road, all their pullies are 8 rib. It's also pretty cheap, and everybody likes it. I have the PB MPS myself, because I got it used for cheap.

Last time I was at Pulley Boys, I was removing a press on 3.4" pulley that was on the car when purchased by the member. I noticed that it was not all the way on, and you could see hammer marks on it. After that discovery, Brian W. showed me a pulley that was literally destroyed. He told me that the buyer wanted his money back because the pulley wouldn't fit on the shaft. Not the case...... Fact was that they didn't use the proper tool. Please use the appropriate tool for the job.

well everyone im in troule now, i took my car to a shop today that told me they could swap it and now they cant get the pulley off, they bent the old one like crazy. so they just called me and told me there taking apart the snout of the sc to use a machine press on the pulley. who knows how much this is gonna cost me now. started out at a 100 bucks. we'll see how much i end up paying? and worst of all we'll see if my sc doesnt seize in the near future from them taking it apart. all i have to say now is i wish i knew what a pain this was before i ordered that pulley. i thought it was no big deal. so much for that huh lol

I wonder if the shop used the wrong puller.
My pulley swap was pretty easy. It did bend my stock pulley, but that is pretty common.

Good grief, they shouldn't charge you anything else. That is 100% their fault. If you get charged anything else, don't pay it, if they make you, go down swinging, and make them look like morons. Oh yeah, and tell all your friends/neighbors/random contacts never to go to their shop!

Heck yeah, you know they did. They used a 3 finger style normal pulley puller, and they obviously didn't know anything about swapping pullies on a S/C. Look at the second post of this thread, by Herc... Originally posted by HercMan: All you need is the special puller. DO NOT USE a three finger puller.
pulley puller
The proper ones look like this Someone didn't listen to Herc.
