Alright, so it turns outit was the transaxle that blew apart. My dad spoke to the mechanic today. I should have it back tomorrow, Ill find out if i get it back tomorrow.
Ok, so as you all know I had my tranny rebuilt because it was not doing well. Anyway, things were great afterwards, but in the recent months ive noticed the tranny was slipping into gear and taking a second , and sometimes more at higer rpm's to shift back down....weird.
So i was at gas station at about 10pm to grab a jug of water for work the next morning (this morning) at 5am.
So as im pulling out i begin to accelerate then its as f the car waas shifted to nutral (which i had thought right away) but the rpm's not only flew up, the spedomoter did as well, the car revved and rolled backwards. At the time this happened an explosion sounding noise came from under the engine and i could hear stuff smacking under the car and the pavement.
Then i started hearing a ton of just awful grinding noises and i knew the tranny has blown itelf.
I put it in park, and it stil rolled!
soon enough someone helped me push it away from the entrance and i had to E-brake it.
I found shrapnel all over the ground in puddles of transmission fluid, and pieces of my gears....not good.
So, the car got towed to my shop last night, and i hadda borrow my moms car for work , which i was late for because i was up late dealing with this car.
So, thank god its under warranty from the rebuild.
The towing dude said in 19 years, hes never seen anything like it.
Nor have I..
sad day for my baby....=(
Ill keep you all posted.

Don't take it back to that same shop again, or that seems to be where it is headed! Yah, explosions, besides the ones necessary in the combustion chamber, aren't good!

See this is why I don't like rebuild transmissions, I was debating this a while ago about getting a new or a rebuild tranny since mine is slipping. The guy told me at the shop, taking a tranny apart at 160,000 miles is painful and will not hold up to a rebuild, he said its better if I get a new tranny.
I have 1200 save up so far for the tranny.

Yeah, But the rebuild was the best option at the time. I diddnt figure something like this would happen.

i do agree, about getting some pics, but look at it this way, by the time its all said and done you might basicly have a new tranny , just in a old case with some old parts.

Don't mean to be picky, but transfer case is a special differential that goes between front and rear axles in 4wd system. You just have a differential which is built into the transmission - which is why on front wd cars its often called a transaxle.
