From what I've heard you shouldn't need to upgrade your windshield to be able to see the HUD. Although special windshields were put in cars that had HUD, the regular ones are supposed to show it just as well.

That said, I have heard of a few times where the HUD didn't show up on the windshield but the majority of the people that have done the HUD upgrade say don't bother with the windshield unless you have to.

the windshields are the same Palsut, ones with a bit higher reflectivity got a different part number and a 650$ price tag.

Your windshield you have now will be just fine.

Are you sure? My 2003 SE windshield look different than 1999 silvermist HUD windshield when I sit on it yesterday. This one look like have light tint or something. I know this windshield worth $700 but this junk yard will cost me 29 buck. Not bad deal if I'm going swap them.

What is the condition of the windshield though? is it all scratched? if it's dirty you might not see all the little scratches, i would take a water bottle and clean it off first to see what shape it is in.

you could do the HUD first and then see how it projects on the windshield. If you like it then keep the stock one and if not then you could swap them out. That might be easiest, might save you having to get a windshield install.

i'm using a normal non-hud shield and it works fine, just like the stock one.

I've contemplated putting some tint their but I think it would bother me more than anything, and look stupid from the outside.

Yeah, I have read some of them can't see and some of them can see.

You have a good point. I will have them install and see it myself with my stock windshield. If it is hard to see then I will get that later. ALMOST ALL CARS have windshield. I won't worry about that if someone take that one. I bet they all don't know it is "special windshield" for HUD. lol Maybe it is hard to remove or something.

it is hard to get out, especially without cracking it.

i know when doing my derby cars they were my least favourite part, and in those i didn't care if I broke it or not.

yeah that part I'm worry about that.

Since you install HUD. Is it good view at night time? I probably won't use HUD during day. I remember some of them mentioned that sun make it hard to see but lucky me. I work night shift since 2001. I probably won't have problem for them light up to my windshield. I'm exciting about that but I can't tell if they are working or not. I hate if I cut dash out if they failed. I would piss for sure.

The windshields are glued in and almost impossible to get out without using the proper tool.

Read this and this to better understand the proper process.

i got my car with HUD from the factory. RARELY does the sun ever affect it. it all depends on where the sun is in the sky (the angle basically) and what direction your driving. i think its only ever happened twice where it is just in the right spot and im driving in that direction where the sun reflects off the HUD screen and you can't see it.

It's bright enough that you can see it in the day when the sun is shining its brightest and plenty bright at night that you may have to dim it depending on your sensitivity.

Sound good. I will see that later when I install them. Thank for save me big time for not taking special windshield off tomorrow. Now, I will need to get broken dash HUD cover to put together and get those wires from HUD and control. Hopefully, it is easy. If I have to strip whole dashboard out for wires. Sound fun? lol
