ok i detailed a monte carlo SS (2000) and it had a open cone with half of the stock airbox in there and it sounded awsome how much power does it gain and only thing im worried about it would be water gettin the motor and if i get something ill just go to oreielys and get a pipin kit and a filter lol RICE IT

how is it open if there is an airbox?

i run a 15 dollar open cone. and had a filter laying around

I'd say it was a running a gutted air box but it would still have a panel filter and not a cone.

I'd really make my own if I were you. Yea I have the WizAired and I love the way it sounds and looks but I could probably have a DP now if I built my own open cone, not to mention they're a lot louder without a box.

Lowes list (cheaper than Home ripoff)

3" 45* PVC bend.

3" to 3" Rubber Coupler.

1/2" Drill bit ( you pick whether for 3/8" chuck or 1/2" chuck, whichever you have)

Autozone ( or similar) list.

Spectre Performance Airfilter, not the 3" one withs black on both ends, you need the other one thats chrome on one end.

After getting everything put in. Drill th 1/2" hole in the 3" rubber couple, then pop your IAT sensor in there and your done.

It does sound like a gutted box, your right, but it could have had a cone on the end. You can detach the hose that runs into the airbox and put a cone on the end of that.

i mean like 01 gts just take the sirbox out but not the part that has the pcm on it and then the buy a filter....lol but that lowes intake is what im gunna attempt and make
