I changed the thermostat back to 195 for the winter. Burped the system but noticed a bit of coolant around the injectors. I am worried that the gasket might be slowly leaking. Is this one of the things that should be changed immediately or can I afford a small leak ( I can't do the job and at this point its a bit pricey here ).

leaking coolant is not good. I would get it changed before you need a new motor.

Andrew (4drgt) has a thread with this same problem. I think it's called "What should I do need advice"

just because you only see a little bit, doesnt mean it isnt leaking elsewhere.

This is a common problem, and i recommend reading up and setting aside a full day or a weekend

watch and see if your burning coolent ... becuase you might have just gotten alittle spilled when you did your thermostat ... clean it off and check in a day or so
