Started the GTP after it had cooled off for a couple hours and all the way home it sputtered and lost power. When I hit the gas and feathered the throttle it would go but it was intermittently putting out black smoke, the tailpipes and bumper around the tailpipes are covered in carbon. It would go if I gave it gas but sputter and die when I let off. The SEC light is not on, so I was thinking maybe the coils but with the way it reacted to hitting the gas, new throttle position sensor or maybe the mass airflow sensor would do it, but the SEC light would be on if it one of these were bad, correct?

It was the MAF sensor. So far so good anyway.

Before buying a new one if it is the MAF, get you a can of the cleaner and clean it and see if it helps you.

If not, look for one in a junkyard with a warranty!

I tried a can of MAF sensor cleaner first. It made no difference, it was my MAF's time to go, may it rest in peace. I chose to get a new one, junk yard is closed on Saturday.
