WTB: Front License Plate Cover G for GTP

OK, I promise this is the last question! I want to buy a White front license plate cover/insert for a 2003 GRand Prix GTP. Let me know, THANKS!

I would just order it from the dealer. Remember that the cover must be painted once it arrives, so give the dealer your VIN so they can paint it as well to match your color.

My dealer was not very helpfull. I found the part from them, full list - twice as much as what gmpartsdirect wants, and then they told me I would have to take it to a body shop to have it painted....even though they have their own body shop. I sold mine on ebay last year as Iowa requires a front plate. Now I wish I had it back :-(

They should be able to paint it right there at the dealer. Whenever I order sideview mirrors, license covers, or anything small that comes "bare", I have my dealer paint it before they deliver it to me. And yes, all GM dealers are going to sell their parts for whatever GM's suggested list price is. GMPartsDirect is sort of an exception; they must purchase in huge quanities. Or, another option is to order the corresponding paint from your dealer, and paint it yourself. You'll need primer, color, and clearcoat; all of which can be purchased in little baby spray cans from GM; which is the perfect size to paint a small item like this. Remember, though, you will need to give them your VIN to get the right color. Having the dealer paint a small item like this could cost up to $80 or so, so you may want to just do it yourself. You can probably get all three paint items for about $30 from the dealer, although they probably will have to order them, so be prepared to wait a day or two.

Or, you can just try GMPartsDirect if the price is right for the cover, and maybe get the paint from the dealer. Believe me, the dealer isn't make much profit off of special order paint. That's probably your best bet. And remember, you can order this stuff from any GM dealer, not just Pontiac.

Buy the part from gmparts direct, then check around to some body shops in your area. I found that small parts like that, and you arn't in a big rush, they will usually paint it when they are spraying the same paint code. A box of KRISPY KREME & coffee is usually taken for payment. Also I wonder why people sell all their stuff on Ebay i.e. owners manual, front covers. It always seems they need them sometime or the next poor owner has to go buy these things. P/CHOP

That would be your cheapest bet, but you may have to wait awhile if you're going to wait for a shop to paint the same exact color as your car. There's a ton of colors out there today, and who knows when the next GM car with exactly your color is going to be at a body shop. I'd just check around with some shops and see what they'd charge to paint it, or like I said just order the paint from GM and do it yourself. It's always nice to have extra touch-up paint anyways!

what is the price on the cover for the front plate? I would like to get one for my GTP.
