How to delete the EGR system?

How to delete the EGR system? - 07/14/09 12:03 AM

So good news is that the headers are sealed, But there is a slight leak at the EGR tube. Yes I could put RTV on there which I did, But thats termporary. I want a permanent leak free car.

So, I was think I could just do the "EGR delete" Like others have done. Block off the tube and what not.

What all needs to be done? The code is already deleted BTW.

What would I put in the hole on the header for the EGR? What about on the end on the tube for the EGR?

Something about JB weld and a pennie? I think ordonez said something like that?

Anyone have good pictures or a write up would be awesome! (Black arrow, I know you have something in your library laugh )

I wouldn't delete it because you never know when MN may start doing emissions testing and then you're screwed.

If you're set on fixing it permenantly then you'll want to get the egr tube welded shut on both the rear header if it has it and on the LIM.

I would suggest just fixing it properly so that it works. It will cost you just as much in the time, money and headache in the end.

I would keep the EGR.

Pros:
better fuel economy
lower combustion temps
lower KR
lower NOx emissions

Cons:
dirty intake, which hasn't proven to be THAT bad. clean it if you care.

If you want to know how it does the above things (which most people don't know about) you can learn all about it on the interweb.

Oh, will update soon. Not a ton of progress... huge holdup on some bolts, and working a lot.
