how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/17/08 10:42 PM

Also, I will get other door panel with leather. What is best tool that can be remove without damage it? If I accident broken tab inside door. Can you give me link what part I need buy for just a case?

Thanks,

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/17/08 11:11 PM

Rear bench pulls out pretty easily by some tabs. Rear seat backing is bolted onto the frame by 4 bolts (10mm and 18mm), undo those and lift it up and out of the car.

I think that's what 98greenGT says. I removed that rear seats from April 2008 for trying remove rear speaker deck and 3rd brake light for tint my window. It has been while. I swear it is 2 bolts on backseat?

I bet I will see some nasty (hard to reach) spot under seat. I will plan clean that out when I remove that seats.

Its 4 on the backseat Palsut .. 2 holding the seatbelts to the frame as well as the seat, and 2 other ones for fun .. regarding the door panel question :

I have a smaller sized flathead screwdriver that i use to pry off my panels .. i have the tweeter on the door so i pop that off, than its best to start from the top taking it off . and the bottom putting it back on .. there are just pins that snap into some holes that come out with minor force .. dont break them!!!

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/18/08 01:04 AM

Palsut, you'll probobly have to unbolt the bottom of your seatbelt first, where it attaches to your seat.

Then unbolt the 4 bolts in each seat and unplug the harness underneath for power and everything if you have it.

Then recline the seat all the way back. Then pulling on the headrest pull towards the front of the car so the whole seat pivots at the front and goes up towards the roof. You'll hear it pop and you should be able to lift up and wiggle it out.

Then get it out the door.

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/18/08 01:16 AM

Front seats are held in by 2 bolts each. They are at the front of the frame. The rear part of the front seats are simply a pin that slides out of a slot after the front part of the seat frame is unbolted..... Easy stuff.

Rear seats have a release right below the crotch area on each side. Pop those loose and pull the seating cushion out. Not sure about the rear seat back... I would imagine it's 2-4 bolts... Prolly gonna need a Torx adapter for your ratchet.... That's just a guess, I've never removed a rear seat back.

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/18/08 01:42 AM

Thank for tip.

I'm kind want remove it out this week but I'm working lol. I plan remove pass seat only so I can drive to this guy's area this Sunday to put pass seat (not install.. just put it look like that lol) then install back seat and beach seat. Then put driver seat on my backseat. 4 doors panels on my trunk which it should be fit.

Mostly, I'm worry about door panels. I know they are easy break. I hope this guy didn't break it when he will remove that door panels. I already told him be careful. Pull it up first when you removed 2 plastic tabs.

for backseat write-up

beach seat (easy as hell) just pull it up that it will snap it off where 2 holes on frame.

the back seat actually have 2 black bolts then lift it up from 3 tabs then pull it out. Maybe GT/GTP might have 4 bolts since my car is SE model. We might have different tool or whatever.

I can't sleep and I'm very impatient about that. So I finally remove pass. seat. It was very easy as hell. I'm not sure about driver seat yet since I have a power seat.

remove seat

ewww nasty strain carpet. Gotta clean that one too!

Good bye! I throw it away at dumpster. lol just kidding

Looks like your cars changed seasons, "Summer car" is now "Winter car", and vice versa.

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/18/08 05:07 PM

I will do when I get them done.

Hercan: Well, I have seen some gp 04+ seat. Some of them are torn and bad. I actually like black seat from Ed but again it is torn. Anyway, I'm just looking same color seat should match that door. Nothing wrong with standard seat. They are feel good to sit since I own that car in 2004.

lol my summer car is not driving in snow. You can see clearly it is sitting there.

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/18/08 05:15 PM

What's the rush?

You have all winter to find a set of seats. I'd look at the Buick seats. Those are supposed to be comfy.

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/18/08 05:30 PM

I'm not rush anything but this guy has a good deal for whole seats set of gp leather seats with 4 doors leather panels.

I have been search Ed Moard and other ebay. Mostly, they are torn and some of them sell like front seats only, 1 left front 4 doors panel or whatever. Believe me, I have been search them. Nothing what I'm looking for until I found this local Ohio guy who is 1 hour and 45 minutes from me. He is member of other gp message board. He says it is good seat so I believe his word for that.

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/18/08 11:32 PM

Since I know how to remove the seats. Now I have trouble with door panels.

I removed the window trim, door light and 2 plastic tab with tool out. Now, I can't get it off. What cause problem? Do I miss anything else than what website write-up say?

I tried pull it up and nothing.

*edit*

never mind about door panels. I read old thread and some of them who remove that door panel do easy break. I don't want to break it. If I remove mine. It is broken. Then I see seller on this Sunday. He has it on door still. If I remove that too. It is break too. What is point? I don't want to have any "broken" parts.

All I want to match leather seat with leather door panels. Oh well. Cloth seat is fine with me. I guess I can deal with gay purple on my seat lol

Just the clips break. You can get them at Autozone for like less than 5 bucks

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/19/08 11:40 AM

I've had my door panel off four or five times now. I've been able to reuse the clips with no issues. But the next time I might wanna replace them all.

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/19/08 05:34 PM

Damn that's crap. I don't want break anything on this door panel. Not worth it at all.

I have thought about getting 04+ grand prix seat. I like black leather seats but Ed has torn one. But it is not going happen because I need to do wire crap on driver power seat which I don't want to mess with it. I wish driver seat don't have any power on it. It is stupid. Is I'm only one hate power seat? It was slow as hell to move it around. I rather no power seat.

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/19/08 11:33 PM

I'm going to junk yard this weekend to get red light that I broke since they have many of them.

I'm going to do the "homework" on this junk car to see if I can remove them without damage. If I can do that then I will give a shot. If damage then oop... at least it is not my car and head my way laugh

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/20/08 12:12 AM

UMM I know your problemm lol.

Behind the door handle (inside) there are two pop off covers behind it .. two torx screws are holding the panel in place. Those have to come off , they can just fall to the bottom of the panel as they'll fall out when you get it off. Also .. you dont need to remove the trim its unnecessary.

I too have removed them four or five times now (speakers, painting ETC) and have yet to 'break' a pin smile Good luck palsut

I actually removed that too last night. It was on write-up from this link. That's all I did for remove light, window trim and 2 plastic plug with 2 screws out. Now, I get some answer that I will have some "damage" clip which it is kind scare me away. Like I say I'm going try it out on junk car for "practice". wink

Dude, you're not reading what I'm saying. It seriously will cost you 5 bucks and 2 minutes of your time if you break one of the crappy plastic clips. They sell the stupid things at Autozone for next to nothing. They slide right out if you break one, and the new ones slide back in.

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/20/08 12:32 AM

Is plastic clips stuck with door panel? Like example gray part snap off that cannot fix? I don't know what clip are we looking for. From this picture all I have seen white clips.

Do you have part # for clip so I can know what kind of clips?

*edit*

there is other write-up for remove door panel. It says I need J 38778 for remove the clip. That's gm tool. I guess I will ask gm about that.

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/20/08 12:39 AM

Yeah, I always easy take remove the door panel. I feel one little pop. I just like sh!t.... it better not broken lol

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/20/08 12:54 AM

OK, take out the two screws inside the door. Then, just pop out the clips all the way around the door, and slide the door panel out around the door handle. Like ordonez said, you can get a pack of 10 or 12 clips at Autozone or Advance Auto Parts for less than $5. Then, just undo all the plugs for the window & lock controls, and you're good.

Just break the F***ING clips! lol

I've taken the door panel off 4 or 5 times, and haven't broken one yet, and I just rip the darn thing out. lol Seriously, it's harder getting the door back ON then it is getting it off.

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/20/08 01:06 AM

Damn. I gotta learn trust you guy. I finally remove door panel from right rear door. I did it on my hand. First I put screw under it for let it loose so I can get it under my finger so screw won't scratch on this paint or panel too. Maybe just get leather door panel only? Then Wait for 04+ grand prix good leather seat like Hercman says wait for it.

*edit* for pictures

one plastic clip broken and rest is good.

hmmm shiny paint! laugh

Re: how to remove door panel? *now removed* - 11/20/08 01:53 AM

Yes, it is fit but need few works on it.

All I know front seats bolt in but backseat need some work.

back seat: some drill and cutting
front seat: some wire thing for power seat and heat.

That's pretty much what I remember when I read last night.

There is link from write-up that I saved boomark. damn cookie delete... It is from clubgp.com. Just search "04+ seat" on 97-03 thread. You will find them.

*edit* just saw your post. lol why I need replace carpet? It is because of strain? If so then I'm sure I put it back and it won't notice for sure. First, I will clean that one too. After I looked that link. I actually like black carpet. I don't know it will look good.
