Stock, GTX, or Ws6 Hood? - 08/25/08 10:39 AM

Since i'll be getting a discount I mine as well get a new hood but which one would be the best for my car?

Stock - no additional costs (more then likley will be 100-200 dollars cheaper.

GTX - May be a bit more, looks arnt as great as ws6..

WS6- will be more but will look nicer

SD hood is not an option nor any of the $500+ hoods are also not options considering i dont have that kinda money.

I would choose F1 hood but since none of this list. I don't like those hood what you plan. I guess I would say stock hood. That's my honest answer. Good luck for whichever hood you will get.

F1 is too much. Its going to be the one of the 3 on the top of the list. Its kinda down to GTX or ws6...

How much is a GTX hood thats either painted or non-painted?

I know what you mean. Like I say I have no choice but vote stock hood intead GTX or WS6 hood wink

It will interesting to see if GTX OR WS6 on silver car. Maybe it will prove me wrong if they are look good since we have same galaxy silver color.

Re: Stock, GTX, or Ws6 Hood? - 08/25/08 03:18 PM

probably the best low cost option would be to have the scoop of your choice added to your stock hood. If I had it to do all over again that is the route I would go. Look how cool Chico's hood turned out. By the time you buy a hood, ship it and then pay to have it painted you can buy the scoop and have it installed and painted probably for less.
None of our cars really benefit from the "ram air" function or if so to a very small degree. The hood is more of a showpiece, granted a pretty darn good one but I think my car would have looked just as good with a nice scoop installed...and I wouldnt have fitment issues.

At the moment the cheaper route for me to take is going the extra 100 or so for the aftermarket hood...My car may benefit a bit more because of the CAI? I have no idea. But anyhow the painting fees would be on there for the stock hood anyway so I wont be paying for paint either...mine aswell get the Ws6.

Re: Stock, GTX, or Ws6 Hood? - 08/25/08 05:45 PM

Is that really worth to get aftermarket hood for CAI? If your car is racing then do it but if it is daily driver then I don't think you need aftermarket hood. My car is just for "car show" only.

325 stock vs 625 gtx... plus $250 to paint either one? is an obnoxious hood really worth almost 1000 dollars?

I'd say go with the GTX, the WS6 I think for some would look weird on a sedan. Plus with that huge bulge in the hood I think the spoiler would need to be upgraded as well to even it out.

I'm going with the 414 dollar hood. It'll cost me about 100-200 extra but worth it. I'm going w/ the ws6 hood which i think will look good on my car and the discount will help nicley.

Re: Stock, GTX, or Ws6 Hood? - 08/25/08 10:25 PM

I think the dark tint/Chrome rims, and some nice grilles will compliment the hood nicley, it shouldnt look weird on a 4 dr since it looks sporty enough.

hey dude, watch how you sling that around lol (I've heard that one more times than I can count)

If I could float the change I turbo that beast in a blink of an eye (love to add those "turbo grand prix" badges)...but for 4 grand I can get another engine and tranny (L67/hd)

Just remember the age old saying "you get what you pay for"...I do hope this works out for you but I fear that hood is gonna take lot of work to make it look right.

I tried that customcargrills. I'm not happy with that. It was not fit on my lower grille. I guess I have bad product but hopefully it is not happen to you. I'm looking forward to see your galaxy siver. I think it will look great! wink
