one problem after another - 07/09/07 10:12 PM

hi again, just one problem after another with these cars, fix one anither goes, both my gp's are the same, and what suck is noone else can notice the problem and you cant explain it,you know what i mean right?, we drive are gp's everyday, even the smallest little knock or ping or anything at all, we can feel it, so all you can do is get advice and go with the best, so i was reading through the other topics and one guy said he was having a problem similar to mine, on acceleration, when i get about 4000-5000 rpm it starts to sound rough, i really cant explain, like something is clogged or air isent getting out fast enough, does this sound familiar at all, like its having a hard time accelerating, when im at high way speed pulling out to pass is fine i accels good, but from stopped the accel sucks, its rough, shifting is fine, my fluids are fine, it just started 2 weeks ago, i did race a guy, i was pretty hard on it, but it was fine the next day, but a few days after i noticed it. rough i mean in the motor, like it sounds like its really trying to put it out, i dont know the more i explain the crazier i sound, the motor just sounds s****y, here is the diags that i thought MAYBE,
vacuum leak
IAC cleaning
MAF cleaning
EGR cleaning
tranny filter
valves sticking
cat
i dont know, im just asking,

now okay u say that you accelerate to 4-5K rpm, from a stop, and thats when you hear it, but not at cruising speeds, tomorrow try to get to 4-5K in second gear (which will put you between 65-80 mph and if you hear the problem only in the higher RPM's it might be easier to diag, i dont know what the prob could be but try to specify it as much as possible, to make it easier to diag.

it sounds like ur engiine is having a hard time getting rid of waste! Do u have access to a pressure gauge? if so drill a hole infront of the cat(small hole 1/8") plum in the gauge the pressure should not be greater then 1.5 psig. Then plug the hole with a self tapping screw. If ur reading is above 1.5 u need a cat.
This is just my insite. If u had access to a scan tool it is sooo much easier to diagnose.
remember u can clean every sensor all u want if it is out of cal just a bit can cause the biggest of headaches.
Let us know what u find

when i had it at the dealership last month they ran a exaust back pressure test, they said there was alittle back prssure but not enough to replace it, so this might be the problem, cuz i do have the DHP, 180 thermostate, could that be whats causing the problem, im installing my super 40's and doing a U-bend delete soon, and thinking about a high flow cat, but i dont know, you sound to be right, what are signs of a vacuum leak?

If u have a vacuum leak u will notice this more at idle. The engine is running on the calculations that the MAF has sent but yet it draws in more air and it has a hard time dealing with this at idle

Maybe a clogged cat.

Get a scan. I wonder if you have a miss or severe KR in WOT runs. My next guess is a cat on it's last legs.

My wife says mine is started to bog down a bit from time to time and since my highway mileage is around 25 when I get back from my next trip I going to put in a new highflow cat with DP.

is the car throwing any codes? instead of trying things and crossing your fingers you need to try and eliminate possibilities

no codes, just running sluggish, in need of a good tuning, just lookin for ideas, thats all

how many threads now have you had, complaining about problems and asking what is causing them? it seems like you just keep repeating yourself
