The Bolt pattern differs by .7mm. The Standard GM Bolt pattern is 115mm. Ford uses standard measurement of 4.5", which in metric is 114.3mm. I've never heard of anyone having problems running the almost similar bolt pattern, but I can imagine that it does put a strain on the lugs.
The backspacing can take a toll on a wider rim. We have a member that 18" Cobra R's on his GTP, and he had to get the inside of his fenders "rolled" to allow clearance for the tires. I know there are different widths when it comes to the Ford rims, and I'm not for sure of the width on his, but I've heard him say that most rims aren't that wide..
