Ford Bullet Rims - 08/14/05 02:34 PM

Ive seen a few GP with Ford rims off a mustang, They are like the ones off the car Steve McQueen drove in the movie Bullet. So my question is do they just bolt up or are the mods that need to be done. I like the look and can get a set at a good price. Thanks for the help

Mustang GT wheels I believe will bolt right up, and they do look very nice.

Re: Ford Bullet Rims - 08/15/05 05:34 PM

like the wheels, and thanks arc for posting a link to them. make sure to post a pic when you get them put on.

if it was my uncle though, he'd leave the ponies on the center of the wheels just so he could say that his gm car has a lil' bit of ford influence in it. smile he's got a chevy box truck that he uses as a service truck and he put a ford badge over the chevy emblem on the front grille so people would think it was a ford. smile

but he's a ford man as i am too for the most part.

Wow. I am imagining. Hmm. Never bid on ebay before. Might just go ahead and bid on those. I need new tires soon anyway.

Those black chrome rims that Thunderbat posted the link to are gorgeous, they would look sweet on our cars. One thing at a time, don't want to overload her with thoo much stuff all at once, she may end up saying no one day laugh lol

Re: Ford Bullet Rims - 08/26/05 05:06 PM

The sig pic I have is the SLP spoiler. AS for ebay, my experiance has been...not without snags. I actually won the bid over 7 days ago. I paid for them via pay pal right away. They were shipped yesterday. I had to spend almost 3 hours on the phone with the dumbass from UPS in FLA. Most of the problems were simply due to lack of knowledge regarding shipping to canada. I did find out that items shipped as replacement parts result in signifigant savings when they cross the border. At present 3 of the 4 are in Fort Erie while the 4th is still in South Carolina. If all goes well they should be installed by next wednesday, but Im not holding my breath.

Re: Ford Bullet Rims - 08/26/05 06:50 PM

forgive me folks for being lax on my metric conversions...but I noticed on several of the wheel sets posted on eBay that the bolt pattern was 5x4.5...I know our wheels are 5x115mm (I'm guessing this must be very close?)...the other issue I noticed is that many 94-03 Mustang apps losted anywhere from 21-26mm backspacing, while the 05-06 apps were 38mm...do any of these items cause fitment probs on our cars?...I'd kinda like to figure this out before I plunk down any cash on a bid. (see Redgie, you done started somethin big!)

Re: Ford Bullet Rims - 08/26/05 06:53 PM

I think as long as you are stadard height, you're okay. If you plan on doing any lowering of your car, you'll need to roll out the rear fender openings just a tad.

My little brother just got the 17" chrome Bullitt rims for his Bullitt:

Sorry for the dirty car, but it's only a Ford.

Re: Ford Bullet Rims - 08/27/05 07:37 PM

And if all goes well Redgie, mine will be on Friday. Have the digital camera now, so will have to take pics of the car lowered and with the new wheels

Hello,

The Bolt pattern differs by .7mm. The Standard GM Bolt pattern is 115mm. Ford uses standard measurement of 4.5", which in metric is 114.3mm. I've never heard of anyone having problems running the almost similar bolt pattern, but I can imagine that it does put a strain on the lugs.
The backspacing can take a toll on a wider rim. We have a member that 18" Cobra R's on his GTP, and he had to get the inside of his fenders "rolled" to allow clearance for the tires. I know there are different widths when it comes to the Ford rims, and I'm not for sure of the width on his, but I've heard him say that most rims aren't that wide..

Later now,
Clint

Re: Ford Bullet Rims - 08/28/05 01:56 PM

114.3 and 115 are interchangeable. Really guys don't sweat it. That's why lug nuts have that chamfer on them smile

Re: Ford Bullet Rims - 08/29/05 12:05 AM

cant wait to see some of these pics when the guys get them on their cars...I'm really interested to see the look...I think I'm more concerned with the backspacing issue than the lug pattern...if it turns out that these wheels show a bit of a lip on the outside that gives the wheel some dish them I'm gonna be high on a set...and I do love the look of that black chrome better than a painted center with a polished rim.
