CAI for 97 - 03/19/05 08:34 AM

After my last air filter posting, I want to put a CAI on my 97. Should I get the SLP version for the 97/98 or will I need to relocate my PCM to make it work with one of the other kits? Also, will the coolant bottle relocation be of benefit with this mod?

Thanks for taking the time to help.

(Hey how about a bonus, what's the best plug to run on these motors? Autolite? NGK? ACDelco?)

Build your own box, then you can put the PCM inside the box where it stays nice and cool.
I think you will need to relocate your bottle to the right fender well, the mounting holes are already there.

Brand of plugs will be up to you. A solid core plug is recommended to help fight KR.

Try to build your own first. If not, then get yourself a premade CAI. Wizair.

Also, the plugs are up to you, per Austin, just note any type of mods (present or future). You can also run the plugs 1* colder to help reduce KR.

If you go with an aftermarket pre fabbed CAI you will need to relocate the coolant bottle. If you fab your own you can make your box fit around both the coolant bottle and the pcm.

You would want to relocate your coolant bottle for the added air flow and if building your own have air entering from behind the headlight and the fenderwell.

Don't put PCM in a box. Don't want to stop or slow air flow. I use a Thrasher. Had to buy new bottle and mount on strut tower on right side. Right now I want to move PCM. Thrasher has it under air box.
Good luck

i just used my KN kit from my 98 Blazer. I ripped the KN kit out before i traded it in. I just used half of the KN kit on the Grand Prix and fits in there pretty nice.

My PCM isn't hampering air flow in any way. It's just sitting on the bottom, right were it would normally sit.
