Window Problem - 01/08/08 09:04 PM

So my driver side window has been broken since mid summer time... I'm not quite sure whats wrong with it so I figured I'd come to you guys smile

Heres what happens:

Window goes down
Window won't come back up
Take off door paneling and try to push and it's stuck
Push down the button while pushing up the window and it'll go.

Is it the window motor?

maybe the regulator cables are kinked. Or the motor may be bad.

New regulators from Napa come with motor, regulator, and door panel "trees". I'd suggest lookin that way. I'll be back with links.

2000 GP Coupe FWD Left Window Regulator, Napa for 189 USD.

Hmm... The motor you can hear when you push down, but only sometimes when you push up... Hoping I don't have to get all that....

Yep you do.

Motor and regulator come as a kit. If you look hard enough you can find them separate but rigging the motor to the regulator can be a pita.

my ds window hasnt worked for a while now, finding a cheap kit (motor/regulator) for a drivers side 2 dr is kinda difficult. most of them are 4 door applications. I found one for $78 shipped on ebay, but i am in the process of getting ripped off. so im still searching

Have you tried contacting Ed about one yet? He's usually pretty good on prices.

I just had the same problem about a month ago, I just put the window up and said to hell with it. However the same thing also happened to my old 98 gt last summer and the AC didn't work so that was a problem.

That's cheap when I bought my new one the cheapest I found was $150 on Ebay.

I didn't want to go through Ed cause I wanted new didn't wanna grab a used one and risk having to change it again. Way to many failures on that item for me to feel comfortable getting used.

By the way it still acted up with the new one. Ended up burning out the switch. Put a new switch in and all worked well for the rest of the year till the following winter. Mine acts up every now and again when the weather is not good. Once I get some things straightened out I plan on pulling all the wiring and checking for any possible shorts and replacing the entire harness if need be.
