adding gauges beyond the pillar pod

adding gauges beyond the pillar pod - 07/04/08 11:34 AM

Need ideas!
The HUD pod won't work (although would've been perfect) since I don't have a HUD, nor do I want to get one.
I also don't wanna put a gauge in that console area, since thats where I throw my junk when I get in the car.

Ideas on where to mount, etc.
Not type of gauges or brands.

You could put a guage in the cubby by the door.

How about if you have a head unit that still uses the wheel controls you could move it to the glove box and use that space for more guages?

I stuck a gauge inside where my ash tray would be.

Looked kinda cool.

do you have hud ? i thought about cutting some stainless pieces to go in my cubbys for the hud controls and then putting gauges there, i am having troubbles with my piller pod with the wrattle can of paint i got at the store it keeps on lifting so im just going to sand it all off and then paint with some other paint that i have

adhesion promoter is needed for use on plastics. Can't recall exactly what it's called but...

OP doesn't have a HUD.

yeah i know that .... i am a painter, it was one i got from zzp that was painted gray , adhesion promoter dont have to be used on allready painted parts. its cheep paint i got from the auto parts store that i know is the problem because i spray the paint and it lifts, i let dry then i sand it all off but i can spray primer and it sticks, it only lifts with the piant , i have some single stage paint thats close to my apiller color (its a little lighter) but i am going to sand my piller and just spray that again. and deal with it lol

I've though about this idea as well. I just don't feel like tackling the project.

Some in front dash, below speedo, on top of steering area. Could mount something similar to HUD pod inside, make something. I like the air vent area, but I would hate to loose them, maybe the center one....

Summit Racing has some dash pods that might work, without a HUD... hammer

If you use one of those dash pods Blackarrow posted along with an aeroforce gauge, you can get HUD!

lol.

the cubbys are a good idea, but i'm filling those with fancy switches and such.

i'm liking what that guy did on clubgp, but thats too much work. (i hate how everything is too shiney though)

maybe i can make some kind of HUD-pod but for non-HUD arrangement. fiberglass funtime?

Without spending money or altering the dash that you currently have with time consuming labor will you be able to get a diffrent place to mount the gauges...but if you do find one let me know because I am looking for a place that I can mount a voltmeter gauge so it can be easiley seen by myself (and somewhat showing off) and not use the tray down below the console ( i use it to put some stuff in there aswell). I also do not feel the need to purchase 20-40 dollars worth of plastic.

Get that giant cowl hood, and stick them under the cowl.

I love the black paint with red pinstripe on that guys interior...as well as the door panel.

is the ashtray cutout wide enough to hold a two ot three gauge pod? I think tossing the ashtray and inserting a pod there would look sweet. (kind of like the old Camaro guages)
