Pressure washer problems

Well, spring's here so now i have to deal with my pressure washer. Maybe someone here has some good advice.
I bought a new pressure washer years ago (Gas Powered). The problem now days is that when i first start it up and shoot the water, all is perfect. But if I let off the pressure (release the gun handle) and squeeze it again, i lose all pressure.
If i turn the machine off, turn it back on, it works again, if i release and press it loses pressure again.
I'll assume it's something with the pump but when i take the pump apart, everything looks good.
Any suggs?

I've always wanted a pressure washer.
Sorry, I don't have a clue about them.

JAT but how bout the release handle??

Just got it fixed last night, it was a valve inside the pump (looked fine when i opened it).
Works like a charm now. The thing is it says to never let the washer run for more then 3 minutes without shooting the water. I'm sure that was my problem as i don't think i read that before :p
