When I was young I visited a dealer that had a Sonoma GT in the showroom. I would just sit in the car and dream. I loved the shifter and the way the seats were.

Now that I am older, I wouldn't mind having a Syclone.

Has anyone on here owned one? I know one person Cindy (i believe) owned two. The feedback was maintenance is on high side. I also visited practically all the Syclone/Typhoon sites out there.

Thoughts? I was going to keep the GP (not sure what my HP/TQ numbers are yet).

The Syclone, Typhoon, and Buick's GNX are top rockers in my book.

One of those elusive factory racers that everyone talks about, yet you rarely see them. If you do see one for sale, it costs a pretty penny. Pretty sweet coming with a built 4.3 from the factory. I can't offer you any personal experience or knowledge, just the fact that I'd like one as well. smile

Wasn't the Typhoon awd? and at the time wasn't it the fastest production truck ever made until Dodge unleashed their SRT truck a couple of years ago?

From what I've heard (never had actual experience) but between the turbo and the awd the Typhoons were much more maintence intensive then the Cyclones.

I too have always wanted one. Maybe one day when I win the lottery (oops gotta play it first)I'll complete my collection of GMs factory boosted V6s.

Yup, I think the Syclone and Typhoon both were AWD. I think they also had a max weight capacity of 500Lbs... 2 passengers with no luggage.

Yes, both had identical drivetrains. Only difference, one was a truck, the other a SUV.

You can duplicate the drivetrain in a self-build by find the not-so-common AWD Astro vans and using their full time transfer case.

the typhoon was the fastest production suv until the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited came along in the mid 90s. And the Syclone was the fastest production pick-up truck until the '97+ Ford Lightnings came along which then got beat by the Dodge Viper Pick-Up *cough* *cough* excuse me I mean the Dodge Ram SRT-10...how original.

It was NASCAR Truck Series driver Brandon Gaughan who drove the Dodge SRT/10 when it achieved its goal. He hit something like 145mph on the warm up lap.
After he was done at the track he went straight to the Dodge dealer and ordered one.

Syclone is considered the quickest at 4.9 seconds 0-60. The SRT-10 has the highest top speed.

They go for $10k - $22k depending on the owner (primarily) and condition. I'd rather have the car with the quickest 0-60 than the fastest.

I guess if I get one, I have to be prepared for maintenance here/there then.
