So it has been a year in November since my wreck and last week they FINALLY told me what is wrong with my sholder. Apparently seperated A/C joints a somewhat common and I am just curious if anyone knows anything about them. I go back 12/21 for yet another appointment and their talking surgery if its not better. I am trying to find anything that will help it to avoid surgery. I've tried months of physical therapy (including the exercizes, the electrodes, whole 9 yards), two steroid shots, on my third, i think, round of anti-inflamitories.

Really don't want my clavical "trimmed down". Doesn't sound like a pleasurable thing when it is a 1-1.5 mile walk from my car to my classes w/ a 30lbs backpack.

I would say a 30lb backpack is your fix. Get rid of the weight.

i partially tore that in my shoulder during football last year, it deffinately hurt. I didnt have to get surgery, as i dont think that it is even possible to surgically repair that, but i could be wrong. Im sure the doctors know better than me. Mine looked really funny, thats how i knew it was bad. Does yours look like your shoulder isnt together just right?

Mine is just really swolen. The x-rays and mri show the clavical sitting higher than it should. the ortho said that the surgery involves going in and trimming the clavical down so that it and the other one (whatever the a is in a/c) are even like they should be. it isn't a bad surgery but it is still surgery.

that sucks man. i had to walk around in a sling for what felt like forever. and then go through some rehab, which was some pretty bad pain. Nothing compared to surgery though

i don't think mine would have been that bad to begin with if it weren't for crack head doctors! went to one after the wreck they said it was my acl, which is in the leg! Second one said bicep tendonitis. The last one i went to said there was no mistaking it to be a a/c joint. guess i should have went to the ortho that speciallized in the upper body first huh?

lol. yeah thats where i started... the guys auto insurance told me what to do at first then i had to tell them how it was going to be. should have went to the hospital that night but when the paramedics are souronding you with hog ties, you kinda get scared... or i did anyways. to clostrofobic for that crap. would have had to hook up some morphine or something to get oblivious first!
