I saw it before work this afternoon and it was one of the best movies I've seen in some time. It's right up there with the Spiderman installments in quality. I never followed Iron Man in the comics, so I don't know how this ranks with purist, but for me it was some great entertainment. Another hit for Marvel.

Oh, and if you see it, stick there until the end of the credits. smile

Some of the recent superhero movies have been REALLY good. (Spiderman, Superman, Daredevil, Ghost Rider)

Some have been ok. (Fantastic 4)

Some have just been awful (Hulk)

I expect this one to be in the first category.

As someone who has read more than a few Iron Man comics, I would say the Robert Downey absolutely nailed Tony Stark. This movie is actually a re-telling of the 200th issue of Iron Man and they did a fine job of bringing the story into a present day setting.
the supporting cast was excellent and the effects were top notch. I loved how even his house computer "Jarvis" was loaded with British attitude.

I can hardly wait for the sequel wich I'm sure will feature Rhodey donning the modified armor under the name of "war machine"

Two Big Iron Thumbs way up for "Iron Man"

Iron Man is easily my close 2nd fave comic hero as Stark and Bruce Wayne have so many similarities...that being said, I get a two-fer this summer with "The Dark Knight" coming in July (as well as the awesome looking anime link story "Gotham Knight" due out next month)

Some dude on the radio down here, maybe apart of film or something, was giving some cons about it.
One I remember was that he doesn't understand how this guy built this thing in his cell while the cameras were on 24/7 and no one noticed. But that is directing and editing not acting or anything of that nature. I never heard of IronMan till this film. I am waiting to see it with the gf!

They went over that in the movie, he obviously wasn't paying attention.

*SPOILER ALERT*
He was captured by terrorist and forced to recreate one of his missiles (jericho). He came up with the plan for a large suit but kept it on three pieces of paper (you have to overlap them on a light source to see the true plan). They got suspicious a few times and even had scenes where they were discussing whether it looked like the missile or not. When it finally came to assembly, they hid him behind a curtain while the other guy 'assembled' him.

I haven't seen it yet. RDJ is one of my favorite actors so I definitely will give it a shot.

Ed Norton is going to play banner in "Incredible Hulk", who is another one of my favorites.

Nice!!

Haven't seen it yet, but it's on my list...as for comics, I still have Iron Man #1 kickin' around(My father got me hooked on Iron Man and Batman comics at an early age). The cover price was a whopping 12 cents... laugh

I still have issue number 200..."Iron Man vs the Iron Monger" a great single issue.

I think the surprise at the end is simply hinting at another movie that may find its way to the big screen in a couple years...nice tie-in though.

I'll have to see if I've got that one, Tbat. I do have #98, where he's battling some dude named Sunfire, and sportin' the Guardsmen's armor. I'm sure I've got a few more oldies stashed away... wink
