So of course many of you seen the $2.99 a gallon for gas when purchasing a new car.
I saw recently in the paper a few new ones.

$0.99 a gallon

Free Cobalt with purchase of new Silverado or Tahoe, certain models apply.

Free 46mph scooter, street legal, with purchase of Nissan Titan.

I don't understand how they could possibly get out ahead giving away a free car with purchase of a truck. Must be counting on your money coming back in the form of repairs/services/loans.

What you don't see is the price of the truck is probably jacked to cover a good portion of the car. Plus the financing probably has to be with a certain company.

Dealers around here won't even take a truck or SUV as a trade in.

Take a gander on Ebay for the going prices on some of the old 3 cyl Geo Metros. Some are 7k. Pretty good for an old cheap car that stickered for 8-10K.

From what I've heard, car lots are no longer accepting trucks or SUVs for trade in.

I also heard about someone who bought a new SUV and a couple of months later they tried to use it for a trade in. They were offered $4000 for a new SUV that was bought for $36k a couple of months prior.

you would be best to have full coverage, which if you have a loan you prolly do then go out and roll the car or wreck it so its totaled cut your losses and take the ins money then go out and buy a car

It isn't that easy, let alone injuries, and possibly points on license, or insurance going up.

Not to mention the possibility of insurance fraud.

I've heard of several issues where trucks/SUVs are being "stolen" and torched for the sole purpose of collecting on the insurance.
