How much is the average cost of fixing a cracked head? Just asking because my dads Chevy silverado 1500 is in the shop with one and they are trying to come to a price to fix it.

well scratch that since my parents just traded in both the truck and the van to get a 2006 chevy uplander. which brings us to 1 Van for 3 drivers and one Trans Am for my dad only.

Are both heads being replaced or one? Is the whole valve train being replaced or reused? with new seals and keepers of course.

Really?

I have a 98 1500 Silverado with the 5.7L. 95,000 miles on her and not a problem yet. Other than a waterpump.

its seems the previous owner drove it very hard. 1 month after we bought it the transmisson went out, then the O2 sensor, water pump, heater coil, then a cracked head.
