My wife bit hard on this, she was worried and really pissed at the snow-backs.
It took me about 2 1/2 seconds to realize it was fake.

A lot of people thought it was a legitimate story because it hit Google News. It was the top story for a while. They were duped by it.

It's obviously fake, but when it hit Google, it caught everyone off guard.
