Nagant M44 7.62x54R. This one was made in 1944 at the Tula Arsenal. Snapped it up for 120 USD including case. Outdoor Recreation rocks. Enjoy the pics.

Integral Bayonet partially opened:

Bayonet Fixed:

I was also told that the Nagant M44 was one of the rifles used in the movie Enemy At The Gates. The rifle used by the Russian Army sniper was the M91, which was also for sale. I didnt grab that one because of the incredibly uncomfortable reach. My midget stumps just couldnt get clear of the magazine well that easily.

a good Garand might be found for as little as 750 USD. A collector's piece can start at 1450 USD. One that has a lineage/history to it can start at or about 5,000 USD.

The Springfield M1903 (or is it 1908?) is a nice catch. Values are about equal to the M1.

I aint the sniper type. My wife is the kind of person that likes the idea of sniping. I prefer the up-close and personal approach. Let 'em smell the Marlboro Reds on my breath. Just before I take theirs.

Wow, that actually sounded menacing.

Thanks for the props, yall. Glad you enjoyed the slide show.

Nice Russian. They kick pretty good too, considering the straight stock and metal butt plates. wink Old war relics are always fun. I'd love to buy myself a K31 Schmidt-Rubin if I ever get around to it. My only war relic is a Arisaka Type 38. It's actually a rifle my grandfather brought back from the Philippines during WWII. It's not in the best shape, but it's nice to have.

Just watch the corrosive ammo. I'd hate to see your rifle go up in rust due to some old eastern surplus.

I have a couple rifles that are approaching the century mark but no military grade.

Very nice... I've got a friend that owns a few WWII rifles.

I'm trying to get my hands on a few, but right now I only have a Swiss K-31(pics to come). It's a straight pull bolt action. Very interesting design and highly accurate.

Re: recent buy. Stay out 56k - 03/19/08 03:31 PM

nice... it'd be even cooler if it was actually used in WWII or something...

Re: recent buy. Stay out 56k - 03/19/08 03:37 PM

It probably was... Most mil surps that old you find were actively used during the war.

The exception would be my swiss because they didn't fight. Well, it would've been used during the war, but more of training use than anything.

Slick, checked under the buttplate yet? Some K31s actually have the name of the original owner written under the buttplate, some have even contacted owners who are still alive! One guy in particular returned the K31 to him.

Find an FFL dealer in your area that will accept guns and do the paperwork for you for a small fee ($20~) and order from here: http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Surplus_and_Used_Long_Guns.html

They usually have good prices and you can always find a project gun. wink
