Just to make you all feel a little better - 09/24/08 12:36 PM
As I've purused the car mags and internet articles and such and on here hearing well Car X has more power etc etc. I thought I'd put into perspective how far ahead of the curve our mighty 97-03 GPs were when they were introduced when it comes down to power.
Remember the GTP was rated at 240hp and a torque of 290 and the GT rated for 200hp and sorry I forget the torque.
These cars were all for sale in 97
Nissan Maxima 190/205
BMW 328I 138/133
Chrysler concorde 214/221
Infiniti I30 190/205
Mustang V6 150/215 V8 215/285
Taurus 145/170
Porche Boxster 201/181
MB C360 268/280
MB c280 194/199
Acura Integra type R 195/130
Acura CL 200/195
Camaro Z28 285/325
Granted I didn't go through all the makes and all the models but as you can see from this sampling of mostly four door sedans and couple of coupes for the "wow" factor the GT/GTP and the early SE's with the 3800 stood their ground mighty nicely.
So take pride in the fact that these cars when they were released were at/near the top when compared to it's competition.
