What is Carmax smoking?

Now I've always been drawn to Carmax's no haggle policy. Since I really hate that part of car buying.

But 10.2K for a 99 GTP? Come on get real. I paid 10.2 five years ago for my 98.

Wow i bought my 99GT prolly close to 3 yrs ago, and paid 7 for it with 89k

But I did find a CTS-V for 23k.

they must thing that because of the miles it has

by that math, i may be sitting on an $8k car

Well I did see a low mileage 01 GT going for 8k.

I got raped when i traded my gt in then lol

lol thats what i bought mine for 2 years ago!! I bought it for $8,300 with 37k on it. actually with trade in for my SE I drove off the lot with a $5k loan AFTER taxes.

well the brake rotors are already showing the lot rot, thinking the price might be a little high

and the picture of the HUD with the 8.7 MPG, might hinder sales ...just a bit...LOL

Went to one once, and saw the prices and was like are they serious.
The oldest car at the time (3 years ago) was like an 2002 on the lot.

I just don't get thier pricing.

I found an 04 CTS V with under 43K on the clock for 22k and an 04 CTS with the same mileage for 18k.

The V is a steal and a performer when compared to a new G8GT.

Herc, their pricing scale is wacky. They seem to have a strange sense of value. Obviously make, model, year, mileage and zip code all affect their price, but they seem to be very hit/miss with varying trim levels. Some models you can find at a steal, but most models are a bit high. However, their no-haggle setup has kept them busy - even in the current economy.

Their no haggle and cheap vehicle transfer keep drawing me to them. I hate haggling. Cause one I suck at it and two I see what I want and I succumb to the "grind".

So you go in there and just pay what the sticker says?
Screw that.

I haven't bought a car from them but have known people who have.

I've found for the most part (there's always exceptions to the rule)they tend to be within 1.5k out the door of the standard dealership. To some people having to pay that little extra is better then trying to haggle and if your no good at it will haggling actually get you a better deal for yourself?

The no haggle price was Saturn's bread and butter. Why do you think so many old people bought em new? Cause they knew if they went to another dealer they would pay the same price.

I paid almost 4 thousand less for mine (also a 99) and at the time it only had 61K miles (I drive a lot) just last summer, and it's in the same basic area...I should drive up and take a look at it, it's only 15 minutes from me.
Granted mine was bought from a private seller, but still, that is a ton of money for a 99, although cars always seem to cost more around the chicago area than anywhere else close to here

I wouldn't pay half that. That's nuts.
