Any new music?

Any new music? - 03/21/10 12:32 AM

You guys listening to any new music? I've pretty well moved on from harder rock as I have grown up. Now I listen mostly to forms of reggae rock. Most say the genre is dead, but I've been to LA and heard some great bands still making good music. I think it's going to make a comeback soon, especially with Sublime reunited this summer. I like songs where the bass thumps, and I get tired of all the songs about hoes and gangstas in rap. Reggae seems to be a better alternative right now.

Anyway, here are some good reggae rock songs that have come out recently. Good summer stuff. What are you listening too?

Iration "Turn Around". This is from their album "Time Bomb" which just came out a few days ago. These guys are from Hawaii and I love them. Reminds me of old UB40 a bit...very chill songs. simply guitars but good melodies.

Here is their song "Falling" off the same album. Play this for your woman and they will melt. Guaranteed.

Dirty Heads "Stand Tall" These guys are pretty good and they'll be touring with Sublime next month. Their song "Lay Me Down" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow60y4WHePQ)features Rome from Sublime and it went to #1 on LA's radio station faster than any other band, passing large bands like Muse along the way.

Dirty heads mixes reggae with rap. Some of their tracks are more hip hop and remind me of Eminem or Beastie Boys.

More Dirty Heads featuring Rome "No Time for Y'all" (explicit lyrics):

I also like B Foundation. They have more guitar and an edgier rock sound. This post is long enough so I'll let you check out their stuff. They have a cool song called "Rincon" but they also have done some acoustic sets like this:

Dirty heads is good stuff, my buddy just showed them to me the other day. I listen to heavier rock mostly, but I do like reggae/rock.

Is Rome a member of Dirty Heads? Or just doing a song with them?

Rome is the new lead singer of Sublime (now called Sublime with Rome). He's also a solo artist. He has collaborated with Dirty Heads on two songs, but he's not part of their band.

I have an eclectic taste but I find my radio station on something that plays 70s 80s rock.

Been digging Zac Brown band ever since I heard Chicken Fried. Every time I see them live on TV, it reinforces just how good they are and how bad 75% of other artists are.

I knew he was singing with Sublime now, but it seemed like he came from nowhere. I was curious if he was singing with anyone before this.

Nope, he did come from nowhere. He was only 20 when he started playing with Sublime last year. Before that, he was in high school. lol

That Iration CD I like is blowing up. It's now #2 on the Billboard Reggae chart.

Yeah I can't stop listening to Iration. Here they are playing for MoBoogie. MoBoogie puts out these videos, usually bands doing acoustic songs. They are good at promoting smaller bands.

Speaking of MoBoogie, here is another of my favorites, Mike Pinto. When I went to LA I had a few beers with him...Some of my friends can't get past the sound of his voice, but I think he makes good music, and his lyrics are really original.

Here is another old Pinto song, about a guy who cheats on his wife:
