Gun Talk Thread (PIC HEAVY) - 05/24/10 07:16 PM

First purchase i've made through GunBroker. I bought the 220R-45-BSS, which is the P220 chambered in .45 and comes with SigLite night sights. This winning bid also included an extra magazine for a total price of $760 + $20 (shipping) + $15 (transfer fee) = $795 depending if I pay by credit card, the total will be slightly higher (add 3%).

But I feel like I got a killer price on it, since most around here are selling for about $950+. Plus, this will be my first .45. Last guns left on my list is a Glock 26 and an AR-15. .....for now

Happy Shootin'! wink

Presenting my new Sig P220 .45 and my side-carry XDm 9.

Wow that's really funny. I was at my girlfriends house yesterday and her brother just got the same gun also. The same exact Sig Sauer. It had the night sights too. I believe he said he paid 900 for it so good deal. I am not a big gun fan but i was playing with it yesterday and it was really sweet. Gets your blood flowing lol. Nice buy!

quick question, is the gun made in Germany and the mag that came with it made in Italy?

Man, it's such a sweet firearm. Fits like a glove. I can't wait to get this thing to the range. Do you know where he purchased his at and did it come with 2 magazines? I know they stopped shipping them with 2 magazines like a year ago. They just happened to throw in an extra mag with the purchase (roughly $35 value), which was a steal.

Yes, the frame is made in Germany and the magazine says it's made in Italy. I believe the slide and barrel are made here in the USA, but don't quote me on that one. I think many years ago, everything was made in West Germany.

I'm now on Midway.com ordering 2 more mags and Hogue grips.

Thanks guys!

Hey 2fast4u, if you're ever in the market for another firearm, check out GunBroker.com sometime. I've found some pretty good deals on there and the transaction went very smooth.

Now i'm looking for some .45 hollowpoint self-defense ammo. Looks pretty skimpy so far. Found plenty of practice ammo at the local Wal-Mart. Trying to find the Federal HST's or Hydra-Shok's 230g.

My wife was in Walmart the other day and I've trained her to look for 45ACP ammo. She bought the two boxes of Winchester White Box they had. She brought them home and handed them to me. They are JHP Personal Defense ammo.

I was able to pick up the Glock 26 that I have been hunting down for my Spring/Summer carry, so now you guys don't have to hear me saying it over and over again in my posts LOL. I was able to get it for $495 new with fixed sights (from his $530 asking price). AND I was able to pick up a Yankee Hill Machine lower off him for my AR-15 build. His tag price was $159 but I got it for $139. I'm sure there's better deals out there, but $55 in savings isn't bad. I also bought a houge rubber grip ($19) for the AR. Total came out close to $690.

Here's some pics:

Oh, the goodies I have. I've never been much of a Sig fan, not cause I don't like them but they just aren't as common around here. I like Glocks though, and the XDs I've held have made me want one.

Here's my project AR. It's a DPMS lower with a Delton M4 (16") kit I've done some modifications to. One day it'll get BUIS and a rifle length rail forearm.

Re: Gun Talk Thread (PIC HEAVY) - 06/13/10 01:11 PM

Rook, that looks awesome man. What scope do you have on top? I'm just gonna run straight iron sights just to get used to the rifle and to be sure I can be efficient with them if my primary were ever to fail. I'm gonna to eventually get an Aimpoint M3 or M4.

Looks like you have one of those Vortex flash suppressors (Which I hear really reduce the flash at night-time over the birdcage style). Also looks like you've modified the FSB to just the gas block. Is that one of those ERGO pistol grips on there? How do you like it? Once again, looks like you have a very nice set-up, would you care to say a rough total price into that investment?

I bought a lot of my parts from Bravo Company. Here's a quick run-down of what i'm gonna have on mine:

-BCM BFH 16" Mid Length Upper Receiver Group w/ Daniel Defense LITE 9" Handguard
-BCM Bolt carrier group
-BCM GunFighter charging handle
-BCM Buffer tube, spring and "H" buffer
-BCM Rear flip-up BUIS (Mfg by Troy Indsustries)
-YHM lower receiver
-G&R Tactical LPK (lower parts kit)
-Magpul aluminum trigger guard
-Magpul ACS stock
-(6) Magpul PMAG 30 rounders
-(2) Magpul PMAG 20 rounders
-Houge pistol grip

There will be more going on this, but I either have to do a little more research on the product or they are just out of stock. I'll get pictures up with progress. I need to get rid of my wrecked GP soon, because it's not a good investment just sitting in my driveway.

Re: Gun Talk Thread (PIC HEAVY) - 06/13/10 04:29 PM

Roughly $700 as seen. That's actually a Tasco aimpoint-style clone. It got decent reviews on arfcom and was in my price range for an optic at the time. Yeah, I plan on getting a real Aimpoint one day, but that one has pleasantly surprised me.

I shot it a long time with a detachable carry handle off a Bushmaster and the factory front sight (I could hit a man sized target offhand @ 200 with it). But it was annoying with the reddot, so yep, I chopped it myself. Since I want a full length rail to go over it, it'll work out eventually.

If I remember right, that's not exactly an ergo grip. It's similar to them, but they lack the hard finger definitions this one has. Anyway, I love it. It looks good and feels wonderful in the hand. I have the magpul trigger guard too, can't see it too well. While the pic shows a thermold, I have some pmags as well and they're by far my favorite.

Nice! However, you're tempting me. Don't tempt me to do my own family photos, that's a bad idea. xD Hmm, now you've got me wanting to find something for my Saiga. Darn you!

Top notch gear on that AR. wink

Re: Gun Talk Thread (PIC HEAVY) - 12/20/10 01:32 PM

I'll post pics of my little project later tonight when I get home from work. It's a 1999 Ruger 1022 carbine currently with a couple of 30 round banana clips, Yellow Jacket buffer, scope and laser sight. Just bought an Archangel stock for it today from cheaperthandirt.com, hoping to get it before the end of the week. Also bought a muzzle brake for it.

Re: Gun Talk Thread (PIC HEAVY) - 12/20/10 06:35 PM

Here's a pic I took today, in a couple of days I'll post another pic with the new stock and muzzle brake...

I have other guns in my arsenal, but the Ruger is my toy.
Customizing the Ruger tends to be very addicting.

I noticed Cheaper Than Dirt was in TX when I was finalizing my order. I saw they charged me tax. frown

Got the Archangel Deluxe stock in today, hoping the muzzle brake comes in Thursday...

Re: Gun Talk Thread (PIC HEAVY) - 12/27/10 10:24 PM

Finished product... Rockin' the Ruger
1999 Ruger 10/22 Carbine, accessories include scope, laser sight, Archangel stock, Yellow Jacket bolt buffer, muzzle brake, bi-pod, extended mag release. I also have 4 30 round banana mags. It was fun to shoot when it was stock, I can't wait to see how it shoots now. I'm sure I'll find some time to shoot it this weekend and I'll see what kind of 100 yard pattern I can get.

Kind of wanting to do another one with a .920 barrel and a thumb hole laminated wood stock, but I don't think that'll happen anytime soon.
