Got a(nother) JUNKBOX 360 ~Update~

Buy a small $10 electric fan from walmart/target and have it blowing on the console when you are playing. It seems like most issues are from overheating. Also make sure you have it on a hard surface, not carpet. The carpet inhibits air circulation.

Well guess what it's already broke... Its a lemon. Within 5 minutes I got "disc read error" on 2 brand new games. And on one it scratched it. I will be sending it back and also giving a call to Mircosoft for a complaint. Figured they had the issues resolved finally, guess not. I am returning for an exchange, so I will give it another shot. But right now PS3 wins the battle so far by a long shot!!! I'm kinda irate about the situation! Go PS3!!!!

It's not that bad of a scratch but that is what the scratch looks like, it goes around with the shape of the disc. It's not just a stray scratch from putting it in the tray or anything.

Let's just say I have almost had my ps3 for a year now and I have had zero problems. I can have that system on for 10+ hours a day and not worry about "overheating". Plus I don't have one scatch on any of my discs. (you can even ask acefighter LOL, he bought my killzone 2 game).

...but I will give micro$oft one more chance, if they fail my expectations again, I WILL NOT GET ANOTHER GAMING SYSTEM FROM THEM!!!

Nope it was laying horizontally the whole time and I never touched the system while it was on.

If you move the xbox while a disc is running it causes lazer burn, happened once to me,

but some are just bad xboxs

I don't understand why people keep buying 360s. They are total trash. But then again, it's Microsoft, so what did you expect?

Hmmm, that's odd. My buddy knocked his over while it was standing vertically, and it scratched it like that.

being bumped or moved is the only thing that causes that and before anyone says the systems do i have never seen a system do that on its own with almost 2 years in video game retail i have seen it all everyone says it was never moved but then you ask the kids and one of them will always say it was moved or bumped. hey ace at least Microsoft admitted they made a mistake and extended the warranty by 2 years just to fix the problem Sony would have said sorry its been longer then a year it will cost $300 to fix it.

I love my Sony ps3. I have ps1, ps2 and ps3. ZERO PROBLEM since ps1 release.

My few friends have xbox or xbox 360 but they keep telling "argggh my (bleep) xbox died!" I always told him "should got playstation"

their are only 2 or 3 games that are only on the ps3 that are worth paying $60 for. the rest are on 360 and before you say well they are also on the ps3 they might be but the 360 versions are at a higher frame rate and resolution. the ps3 is a Blu-ray player that happens to play games as well.

Xbox games > PS3 games.

Xbox Quality < PS3 Quality.

I think I've already mentioned my opinion about the the 360 on another thread, but they are total garbage. Ive had rrod, hd failure, disc scratches, disc drive quit turning, arguments over warentees, and other problems I can't remember now. As for the scratching, it happened to me without any bumping or movement, and with the xbox level. Microsoft had my xbox for 3 of the 12 months of warranty, and refused to fix the disc player on the replacement xbox that they had sent me even though I only had used it for maybe a month (I'm not surprised that it died, because the unit they sent me was a refurb that was 2 years older than the one they were supposed to fix). Even though my kids wii is lame, at least it works. Microsoft will never get my money for another game system.

I'm not sure I'm going to disagree with that. The PS3 didn't have hardly ANY exclusives until now. They are FINALLY coming out with some exclusives worth getting, but it's far too late now.

But there aren't any 360 games that are even CLOSE to being good enough to put up with the total trash that is the 360 console. PS3 FTMFW

When ps3 is out and there are no good games around. Now, it is getting better.

Well, got the new 360 in the mail yesterday. set it up last night, threw the new game in.... and BAM!!! This one is broke too. As soon as I put the disc in, it starts to boot the game and the pop-up comes up and says "Disc is Unreadable".

I'm so mad right now... LOL, i'm just gonna ship it back, get my money back, and never, NEVER EVER gonna buy some kind of Mircosoft gaming console again.

They definately messed up big time, they screwed with the wrong person, me being a Sony fanboy and all. Never had one problem with ANY of my sony products.

Yep I got the RE5 the first time with the bundle but I had to send EVERYTHING back. Then they sent me another brand new copy of RE5 and console of course, still doesn't work. Plus tried with a brand new copy of GTA4 and it screwed up still.

well back when i had my 360, i bought it when they first came out. Those were supposed to be the "bad versions", well it looks like they were the best versions made. I never had ONE problem with mine, but i decided to sell because i needed the money. Dumbest move i ever made was selling that 360!

I ALWAYS had my 360 in the standing position and i never had a problem with it.

I think this thread is what is going to keep me away from buying another 360, because i doubt i will be able to find one from the first batch made.

Thats actually funny because i hear the exact same thing from many others, Except my friends had his since it came out and he just got the 3 red rings ! and no warranty anymore !!!!

I still have super nintendo on closet. It is still working and zero problem. I know my dad brought me like 1993 or something I can't remember when I was kid. I played them two years ago for "bring some memories back". It was huge different. It was look like crap in 90's. This year, it has better graphic lol

Don't buy a new 360... Go reburb. My little bro got a new one for x-mas and it broke in march. But with smooth talking we managed to get one from microsoft and another back from bestbuy.

While I bought mine in November and it was a refurb and it's been fine since. I'm going to mod it soon xD

It really all depends, some may not have any issues at all. In the past I've had some good Microsoft products but the 360 just seems like the lemon in the bunch when it comes to issues. This doesn't mean PS3's and other consoles don't have their share of issues too. Although I've personally never experienced issues with my PS3 I do know people who have had issues with theirs. Overall you should either get a PC or a Dreamcast (amazing system of its time)
