Good idea or bad idea? I'm sick of my zero light output stockers with halogen bulbs, but don't really wanna spend $150ish on projectors..

Is the glare really that bad? I don't want to blind people, but I'd like to see.

I have HID's on my stocks but then again I have an 04 and I've heard the 97-03's are up there when it comes to bad design for the headlights.

HID's are good in 97-03's if you have a pair of good clean capsules that arn't fogged up. No matter what light output will be increased, but other drivers may get a little bit of glare.

When I had my stock capsules with HID's the glare wasnt near as bad compared to my friends Jetta, Probably because those have the reflectors where the bulb sits.

I got peoples brights flashed at me a couple times, But I see HIDs all the time and I dont complain

I wouldn't recommend HIDs in stock capsules. Never done it myself, but the issue is that you'll be blinding others. Stock capsule will spread the light out more.
I heard about a guy who punched a driver in the face cause of his blinding HIDs, lol.

BS, if it's in a reflector housing without a cutoff, it's going to be in peoples' eyes.

Go with projectors and don't look back... far superior to stock headlights.

This isn't making my decision any easier lol, half of you say yes half say no..

I'm not sure I'm willing to spend 150ish on projectors especially will all the problems people seem to be having with them.

I have zero real issues with my projectors at this point.

Just take a look at output pics for people with reflectors versus projectors. The light splatter is obvious for the reflectors, they were not designed to hold a bulb that far exceeds the legal output levels.

If you decide you don't care that's one thing, but it is incorrect to assume there is no glare.

I put HIDs in my stock housings. There is no cutoff, but it really isn't that bad.

Its really not that bad. I have 1 clear as hell housing and its extremely bright, i like it, i'm sure the other drivers aren't too fond of it, and the police don't care. My city is infested with stupid honda's with 12000K HID's and they don't get in trouble ever, and their capsules are HUGE and put it directly in your eyes. Our capsules compared to them are nothing.

Seriously, 6000K VVME HID kit , lows + fogs , best $115 you'll ever spend.

Is the glare just as bad or worse with 04+ GP's?

Perhaps its not as bad in the GP housings. Definetly been blinded by hondas and nissans doing it though.

I've been in that argument 100 times on this site. Some people just like spending more money for the exact same thing.
