man i love this site... anyways my GPGT with about 150k just threw a rod knock my way and ive got a new 3.8 goin in monday with 18k on it anyone know what the rod knock could be from? i was told driving it with no oil or over revving it but i havent beaten it and theres no oil leak. could whoever had the car before me (4 months ago) caused this?

Well..the person before you probly thrashed on it. did it lose power?? im guessing you spun a rod bearing.... its a common thing in our engines,with high miles or raced hard.

yeah it was the rod bearing. is there a way to prevent that or just dont floor it? like do the reprogrammed pcm's help with that?

proper building procedure/equipment. and correct parts. let it warm up to normal temp before thrashing on it. and um... dont race everywhere you go

my first motor spun a main because the person i got it from be the crap outta it.

not junkparts...i beleave soem of teh best parts out rightnow are clevette bearings( not spelled right ??) L36 conn rods, forged pistons.
It may cost more short term but in teh long run it can save you tons. good name valetrain like comp or crane. just look for namebrand parts and using the correct torque spects always helps wink if you have the ability always build it yourself that way you know what is being put into your engine
