Did GM make a police package for our GPs? If not the GPs, for the identical (mechanically) Impala? And if so, what are the part #s for the alternator, radiator, etc?

I've seen quite a few GTP's, both 2 door and sedan, and Bonneville's in Florida and Georgia. The were completely unmarked cars. I'm figuring they were just stock models that you and I could get from a dealer. Getting really hard to pick out the unmarked cops in Florida these days. They have hidden the lights very well and learned that dark tinted windows help the overall affect. I'd swear that the windows are tinted darker than the legal limit also. Back in the late 80's i saw 5 CT Highway Patrolman/women driving Grand Nationals. Now that's a job perk.

I have seen the GTP police cars but I have yet to find any information on the Interceptor package.

I was told that GM doesn't make an "interceptor" pkg for the impalas or the gps, although I have never seen a gp with any kind of police instrumentation on it here, only impalas... here the impalas are 100% stock, only with radios, and stickers, and light bars

(oh, I forgot to mention steel wheels also)

You know... when I was in Virginia recently... I saw the police using new CORVETTES. :|

I was OK... THAT is too freakin much. When I asked about it, people were like... hey ... that is cool.

IM thinking... our tax dollars at work.

I drove a police package Impala at old job I had, the only thing different is the suspension, they made the ride real stiff for handling, but the motor is the stock 3800 II

Friday night on my way to Galveston, a plain white Ford pickup flew past us at a very high speed. I thought "freaking idiot".
Cop... he pulled someone over. Lights were hidden in the upper parts of the windshield and grill. He had strobes on all four corners too.

I'm pretty sure i bought an old police GTP because theres a CB antena in the back and the the windows are tinted not to mention the guy i bought it from in san antonio was a cop haha. you could tell he had a diff radio in there (probably a police one) because when i had my friend do my headunit the wiring was all weird and what not. which sucked becasue it costed me a few extra dollars to get done right haha, but then again i could be wrong

a lot of police officers can purchase new cruisers through their respective departments, and I believe they get them at cost...most police package cars come with a column shift since they want the space between the seats for radio gear...other telltale signs are oversized alternators, aux coolers for tranny and power steering and heavy steel suspension control arms (for living with curb hopping and such)...and btw, commit the face of the new Dodge Charger to memory...DC has the Brampton plant running at full chat for fleet sales.

Funny that they use Chargers.

I remember when the Magnums came out and police departments were supposedly buying the Magnums. Dodge must be making a fortune off police departments alone.

there is big money in fleet sales as long as the departments are happy with the cars (read that reliable)...DC is looking to steal a chunk of the market that ford has owned for quite a few years...the only reason they still produce the Crown Vic...departments all over the nation protested in a big way when GM gave them the Impala, and GM had to prove it would stand the abuse because all of the buyers clearly prefer a RWD sedan...Dodge is also looking to grab part of the share that is now buying SUVs (K-9 and other specialty units) with the AWD Magnum...fleet sale contracts for multiple years translate to large dollars and DC has put Ford in the middle of its crosshairs grille.
