While in park and neutral, the vehicle has a rev limiter of about 4k RPM so you dont blow your engine.
While at a run, I would say it might be time to change your tranny filter. That is almost like the valve bodies are sticking. I would wait until someone else has a chance to give their opinion on your shifting issue.

Either that or you need a new catalytic converter? When it gets to the high RPM's does it just stop accelerating?

What speeds are you hitting? If you are just cruising up to those speeds or going WOT your shift points are different. So you need to know which one and at what speed it is supposed to shift to see if it is actually a problem.

i kind of have that problem too, i will rev to about 4 or 5K and then let off and it shift into a neutral type thing and i can rev it again to about 3K rpm and then it will like pop into second? Idk but i had the tranny rebuilt a couple of years ago, i dont think it is messed up again. I think that im fine but idk, am I???

Not tryin to step on toes but I wopuld recommened the flush, will remove dirt from valves and torque converter. It is said u dont even have to change filter when u do a flush..I dont agree, but the new fluid is pushed in the system backwards. U can also add a BG cleaner and after the fluid change add a BG softshift. Just my insite
