I applied vht niteshades to my tail-lights, and used a couple coats of clear coat over that.

I would like it to have more of a gloss to it. Is it safe to use a really mild rubbing compound on it, without scratching anything or ruining the vht niteshade paint?

Good-night ya'll.

Sounds like you didn't put a good final coat of clear, take them back out lightly sand with 600grit paper put a light tack coat on wait 10 min. put a full wet coat on make sure it looks all wet if need be apply another coat, rubbing compound you will need to wait a few weeks to age the paint.

Will you be able to pass inspection with this stuff?
I'm thinking about getting some, but thought I might have problems with inspection. I have dark smoke covers on my headlights and they have to come off when I get my car inspected. If I apply this spray on, I won't be able to just remove them for inspection. Might need to buy a set of tailights just for inspections.

I have't had any problems as yet just don't go hog wild with the niteshades the light seems to shine through pretty good ,one note though i'd suggest upgrading the bulbs from the stock 3157 to 3457 and 194 to 168 they are a lot brighter

My Impala SS passed TX and MD state inspections with nite shades on the tail lights. I didnt go wild though.

Ok here are two pics of my tail lights. One before

and after I used nite shades

I tried to keep it light so I dont get pulled over or anything. One note is that nite shades does lighten up a bit after a few days. Not sure if some wears off over time but they arent as dark as the day I did them (which IMO was too dark)
