I think i will wait till I win the lottery...
$200 is actually very, very cheap for an aftermaket PCM for a car. For other cars, they can run from 500-1000+.
An aftermarket one from Toyota Matrix costs $800 and gives a 5 or so HP increase. It does give it a better A/F ratio but it's still costly.

With the 200, you are supposed to get 20 HP at the crank. Car can also handle any CAI/exhaust mods better.

Its been the best mod for me so far. Showed the most difference.

As far as Intenses PCM I have been running a custom burn for a few months now without problems, there standard PCM is a good option for most at a reasonable price ,if you want to take atvantage of mods such as cai & exhaust a reprogrammed PCM is an absalute must.Chico

Ok ya'll, I'll take some pictures this weekend. I do need them don't I? Sorry 'bout that all you "picture hounds" . I'm not sure about any of the other "stats" on my GT, but as far as I know, it's all stock, nothing major except for the low mileage thus far. And yes, thunderbat, they are awesome. I have wanted this car for a very long time. Am very impressed with the Wide Trac System as well. How cool is that???

Disappointed the HP is not more than 200, but I hear you can buy a chip, but what do I need that for? I'm a 40 y/o momma. LOL

Just to be technical, its not just the chip. It is the actual computer itself , i.e., PCM, Thats what we were referring to.

Its just calibrated to give you more power and throttle response in comparision to stock. 20 hp or so increase. So when you say "I'll be up at the school in 10 minutes!", you will be there in 6-7.

Stay away from those 'chips' on Ebay.

By the way the "wide track" is a marketing ploy. It started off back in the 60s to differentiate the Pontiac bodys from the Chevy bodys. Iirc the generation prior to the 97s actually had a wider wheel base then ours.

Don't be disappointed by the 200 HP number -- what you need to understand is that peak HP is useless as a measurement of power, it is the power curve and how well distributed throughout the entire rpm range that matters, and in that area your GT will perform quite well against similar cars. thumbsup
