Hey guys, if anyone is keeping up with my threads, my buddy did his motor swap after he sucked a valve, blah blah new one is in and it’s its together...and we fixed the o2 sensor. The connection was bad from his pulling the motor and throwing it around after doing his headers.

Anyway....

His car runs pretty good but at high RPM's he has a miss. He told me it was cylinder one after he scanned it. The mods he moved onto the new motor are the 104 plugs, headers, 1.9 rockers, LS1 springs and ZZP pushrods. He has a 3.4 pulley and of course a CAI.

He also told me that the fuel system is ok and not the problem, he checked that...but I wouldn't rule it out knowing him... possibly the injector?

He did do a sloppy job putting this motor back together, hopefully he never sees this thread, ha, but does anyone have a similar issue they could explain? Or does anyone have any input or suggestions? Thanks for the help! –Jon

Simple stuff first. I would take the plug out and examine the porcelain to see if he might have cracked it. Then swap wires and coil packs for good measure. If that doesn't fix it, I'd replace the injector.

On the route that Rook said. Swap the one wire with the three wire and the one plug with the three plug and see if the miss follows.

yep. Definately check and recheck everything that he has done. Plugs, wires, etc.

Looking at the plug after you've just ran it can tell you a lot as well. If it's soaked wet, it's probably not an injector issue.

What do you mean by he did a sloppy job putting the mtor together? If he indeed do a sloppy job he should be prepared to be doing it over as he could have numerous problems .Chico(pops)

That’s exactly what I am talking about. He for the most part did a pretty good job bolting the rockers to the proper torque specs and installing the rods and springs but from my point of view it just looks like it was done with a bit of excitement. Little things that could lead to problems, like not securing his pcm to the frame, not worrying to much about the electrical system when he swapped the engine. The whole reason his car wouldn’t start before was because of his fuel pump. He mangled two wires behind the relay switch, behind the fuse box under the hood and it took him a weekend to figure that out, and three relay switches.

His second problem was the maf sensor. He threw his old headers on the dirt ground in his huge awesome garage and that’s how he was throwing the low voltage code for the maf. Took him a week to figure that out after doing everything opposite of what the code told him. And after I told him it was the wiring, especially since he rewired an extension b/c of the new zzp headers.

Now with this third problem, he refuses to believe it’s the plugs and insists that he checked them. I at first thought the injectors but he ruled them out until someone forced that issue down his throat. He is just difficult to relay information to, and does what he wants. This in turn, is why he has the problems he does.

If he is that stubborn, let him figure it out himself

andy is a good deisel mechanic, not so much for gasoline...and its just that he doesnt take the time and patience to make things neat and perfect...i say he has a bad coil pack, because i know that it isnt the plug/wire...and if it was an injector, wouldnt the misfire be constant? his is more of a top end sputter occasionally...
