The current for the fans must run thru both. I unplugged one and now neither will run. This morning while waiting in line to drop my kids off at school in the rain, my temp starting shooting up. It watched it from 180-195 before I cracked the windows and cranked the heater. Luckily it was 43 degrees out. The temp stabilized and then came down as soon as I got out of the parking lot and was driving again. I know 195 is not hot as that is where the stock t-stat runs the motor.
