alright guys, your posed with my newest question. i recently ordered new headlights for my '00 gt from epartpal on ebay. got them and installed and left the factory bulbs in. i then ordered xenon 7000k 9007 bulbs, and installed them. they put out almost no light at all but i think it might be that i hadnt set them yet. one blew up and the other works fine. so i just put my cool blues in that i had before i got my new headlights. haha i then bought xtravisions at walmart cuz the cool blues were throwing horrible light, i have had them forever though. the xtravisions throw decent light now but are ugly yellow. overall i just want some good dependable xenon bulbs! and maybe some new foglights cuz i put xenons in those but they are so destroyed from road wear. please help me get some good, dependable xenons while i can still return the xtravisions and keep the cool blues as spares.

sorry its so long to read but its a very complex situation! thank you!

nb4som1sayzgetHIDS!

7000k throws horrible light.
The higher the kelvin, the more the color goes blue to purple, not light output. It is color temperatures.
You need to stay in 4500-6000 range for good light output.

But add all the money you already spent on the options you chose and aren't happy.
You already bought HIDS but don't have them in hand! Wish I had bought HIDS.

The kelvin is often used in the measure of the color temperature of light sources. Color temperature is based upon the principle that a black body radiator emits light whose color depends on the temperature of the radiator. Black bodies with temperatures below about 4000 K appear reddish whereas those above about 7500 K appear bluish. Color temperature is important in the fields of image projection and photography where a color temperature of approximately 5500 K is required to match “daylight” film emulsions. In astronomy, the stellar classification of stars and their place on the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram are based, in part, upon their surface temperature, known as effective temperature. The photosphere of the Sun, for instance, has an effective temperature of 5778 K.

Yellow:
1500 k Candlelight
2700-2900 k Yellow painted fog halogen bulbs
-------------------------------
Yellowish white:
3200 k Sunrise/sunset
3200 k Premium H7 non painted halogen bulb
3400 k 1 hour from dusk/dawn
-------------------------------
White:
4100 k Philips/Osram OEM HID D2S
5500 k Bright sunny daylight around noon
----------------
Blueish white
5500-5600 k Electronic photo flash
6000 k Philips Ultinon HID D2S
6500-7500 k Overcast sky
-----------------
Blue:
9000-12000 k Blue sky
-----------------
Purple:
28000 Northern sky
12000-30000 k Ultra Violet light (black light)

My friend bought some Hella xenon light bulbs for 50 dollars and the light output is very good. I heard eurodesigns light bulbs puts out decent light but never tried those brand.

I bought ZZP ones, but got the higher wattage ones. Eventually burned up my ballast.
Went with some Sylvania Sylverstars at Advance.

Any bulb that has a blue coating id going to kill your light output. You want a bulb with no blue coating. the only downside is the light will look a little yellow. The bulbs to look into are GE nighthawks +30 and philips visionplus +50. PIAA xtreme white are also nice. The PIAA's have a blue coating but produce good light output.

HID's to me are quite a pain. I had the 8000k 9007 and the Ballast failed on me while driving home one night and my lights were flickering on and off. I had to pull off and replace with stock lights I had with me. Of course everyones expierence varies with HID's but I know for reliability issues i'm going to stick with stock ones and buy some nice ones for the headlights and fogs.

You tried to run HID bulbs w/o ballasts. Thats why they failed.

Get an HID kit. /thread.

If an idiot installs them, there will be problems with HIDs. Buying those ebay lights that you did... you get what you pay for. Unless you paid a lot, in which case... sorry about your luck.

I'll say it, get HIDs. They are the best thing for our stock capsules, and can be had for $70.

Sylvania silverstars are the way to go. Remember do not touch the bulb element when installing bulbs. The oil from your skin can cause premature failure. I have them in all my cars except Chevelle which are Cool Blue cause they don't make 7" round Silverstars

no its not the fact that your an idiot, some people need harnesses and ben didnt have one so thats why and mine needed one too, and no failures since, so maybe youve never needed on, but HIDS were the biggest PITA ive ever had at FIRST, but in the end its all worth it, the 8000K triple the stock output not to mention throw a really cool blue

I'll say it again... it's the fact he DID NOT USE ballasts. He said he ordered bulbs, useless w/o igniters...

If you ever had a class with electricity in high school (physics), installing HIDs is easy. Anyone who ever messes them up comes back on later and says how they made a retarded mistake, except in th case of the connector pinouts being incorrect for some harnesses.

well they make pretty good fog like HIDS, so their probably legit, but for an extra 40$ you could dominate the road with HIDs

I've been happy with my first gen Silverstars. I've really been eyeing the new Ultras.
