I don't believe that the Baer rotors require turning. I'd try puttin some of that brake lube between the pads and the calipers.

If you didn't put anything between your calipers and pads, they will squeak. You gotta use that stuff.

BTW...
The next thing on my list is to get some cross drills, how much were yours...where did you get them from?

I would personally stay away from the cross drilled rotors. The high end cars like Porche and such that use a different method for the holes so the rotors will stand up to the punishment. Most of your aftermarket X-drilled will get stress fractures from burrs in the holes. For our cars I'd go with a "Vented" rotor those are the ones that have the grooves cut into em. Venteds will hold up much longer and perform just as well.

I hear ya Herc...I've been tossing around the idea of either cross drilled or just the vented. I guess that's why it's taking me so long to get them, I just keep pushing it off until I can make up my mind, which still hasn't been made up yet.
I saw some show, I think it was Tuner Transformation, they put slots on the front and drilled slots on the rear. I've even been thinking about doing that.

Porsche rotors are cast with holes in them, they aren't drilled after the fact like all the copy cat rotors.

If you want better than normal performance - get slotted rotors and good brake pads.

and yes, you should always use the brake pad backing goo. Even on new equipment.

Oh and if you could - please turn caps lock off. Better all lowercase than all uppercase. Thanks!

Unless you are road racing you won't have to worry about stress cracking on the holes. I road race in the PFYC Z06 and only after tens of track hours and hundreds of track miles using the brakes harder than is even possible on the street, they still haven't cracked.

If you have not already, follow the included directions on seasoning the rotors and bedding the pads. Also, performance pads sometimes squeak more. If this does not cure the problem, contact the place you bought them for help.

Thanks for the info Brian...
Hopefully I'll be able to make up my mind sometime soon. I'm leaning real heavy on the drilled slots, I just like the way they look and I'm sure they'll perform a lot better than my stockers.
I know a guy that has a Z28 and he put drilled slots on it and he loves them! He's been working on me to get the drilled slots.

I just got to my daughters place earlier tonite and after carving up some mountain roads I noticed quite a bit of vibration when I got on the brakes hard...I had never noticed this before (although this is the first highway trip I've taken the car on)...I'm guessing I'm seeing early signs of rotor warpage...I was just over in the GPstore checking out the powerslot rotors...does my 01 GT come standard with the 10.9 front rotors?...I'm thinkin hi-po semi metallic pads to go along with these bad boys...I'll admit drilled rotors look way cool but I want to put something on here that looks good and last...cuz this is the first of many high road trips this car wil see!

Yes the stock size of the front rotors are 10.9. If you want even better brake performance you could put the 12 inch set up from the f-bodys on there. It will require new rotors, calipers and brackets. Brackets can be obtained from a junkyard calipers at your favorite parts store as well as rotors. Just beware if you have the stock cross lace rims you won't be able to put the 12s on.
