I swear to god that it doesnt exist. I am reading all of the threads on here and i see nothing. Please see if you can find out if there is a resistor for this car. Thanks guys.

Blackarrow sorry your wrong this time that resistor is only there on gtp's and I believe Jon owns a GT ,the relay in your under hood box could be faulty if not it will be time for a new fuel pump.Chico(pops)

Seeing as it works when he activates it by fixing the connection, it isn't the pump.

Jon, did you ever try a new relay? Try one from a cooling fan temporarily to see if it works.

This car I am working on is a 2002 GTP. This is not my car that I rebuilt. I did buy a new relay and we tried it, but the car died again. Just to make sure that the relay is working we are testing them now, but I need to know if there is actually a resistor on this 2002 GTP of my buddies. Thanks guys. -Jon

Hi Chico,
I realize GTs don't have the resistor, Jon mentioned he's working on his friend's '02 GTP.. wink I've left wiring diagrams for both in an older thread somewhere.

I found the diagrams. I printed them up and we are looking at them but i am still concerned about if this car (2002 GTP) even has a resistor behind the bottle, on the frame. smirk.....electrical is so difficult.

maybe you ripped the resistor out when you pulled the motor?

we didnt pull the motor. He rebuilt the top end. The block stayed in the car.

Ok thanks for all of your help guys. The issue was that the electrical box under the hood had stripped wiring from the pump resistor. It only took us about two days to find but the car ran great regardless. All it needs is a tune now and it’s all good. And just for everyone’s information, the 02 GTP does not have a fuel pump resistor, found out from a GM mechanic. I believe they were redesigned after 2000 because I saw on Ed-Morad, a resistor for a 97-2000. And if this is true them the 2000-2003 do not have the fuel pump resistor. So you either have a bad fuse, bad wiring, or a bad fuel pump if you ever encounter a problem. There are other factors, but anyway...Thanks again to everyone..

By the way I had to rig mine a while ago. An easier way then a paper clip is to bend out one of the tabs on the relay. I ran my car like that for about a year before I replaced my resistor. For those that have one and it fails you can reach into the cubby hole behind the headlight and unplug it. You can mount the replacement on the radiator support in a more accessable location. The new one even comes with a nice cover to hide it.
