Last week while driving down the freeway my service engine soon light came on and started to flash about 5 or 6 times. Now im noticing a major deccrese on power, especially when passing cars its like the car wont go faster at around 70 mph. also the car is loud and it SUCKS gas like a truck. Ive went 100 miles on a half tank of gas last week. Im thinking its the catalytic converter. Pontiac sent me a letter about 3 months ago saying that they were going bad in alot of grand prixs. Any thoughts????

Its a 2001 Grand Prix Gt 80,000 miles

If they are offering a free replacement of it, maybe you should have it done.

Stock OEM cats are warranted to 50k miles, looks like you're 30k past that.

I'd call the dealer and see what they say. They might take care of it for you, or maybe at a discounted price.

Get it scanned and see what the codes are. Could be in need of wires. 80k is a lot on a set of wires.
