[QUOTE] I've got sock's older than you!!!/QUOTE] Chico, do you really want us to know this info? I have a couple of 8 tracs in the attic that are pretty old. I can't bring myself to throw them away. I'm waiting for a comeback. But back to Vettes. I ripped a new one on a C4 today. Maybe an 89 or 90. Oh yeah he was flooring it. The race lasted 15-20 seconds. I had the speedo pinned at 110. We started at 75 and finished with me ahead by more than a few car lengths. Life is good. Jack

Ok my Vette story... I had a '99 Red Convertable with a black top. No real mods - it would run mid-low 13s.... anyway my wife and I where coming back from a family reunion in PA, I was driving.. we hit the route 15 bridge going over the susquahana (spelling?) river and I Nailed it - I hit 137mph (on the HUD) and looked up the hill on the other side of the bridge and my wife said I turned white as a ghost ... in the median was a car I the brakes but figured by then "the Man" had got me doing WAYYYYYY over the 55mph speed limit. In that instance I saw myself spending the night in a PA jail. BUT Turns out it was someone doing a illegal U-turn -- I drove the speed limit the rest of the way back home to MD I loved that car. But I love my Comp-G also

Talk about a good scare. I've done that before. But never going that fast.
I don't have any real corvette racing stories. But My father has owned 11 Corvettes since he got his license. He had all new models up until '83 when I was born and he had to buy a bigger car. So finally he decided to buy another Corvette. Instead of going new he picked up a '64 Stingray convertible. Absolutely mint, it had less than 50k miles on it. He ended up selling it 4 months before I got my permit. I didn't mind though because he picked up this:

He said it was more practical. Even though he sold it two years later with only 14k miles on the odometer. About 4000 of them were mine.

My father in law owns a red 66 that he restored from the ground up, I won't go into detail, but serial #`s match and its got a 3000 k paint job, the car looks like just rolled off the show room floor, that should give you an idea of what I`m talking about... needless to say I`m the first one in line when he kicks the bucket. He also owns an red 86 mustang GT with 8000 original miles (he bought it new) and no there is no 0 missing in that figure..it just got a couple of dings from the mover over the years, but everything is original, (including the tires).the only things he has changed have been battery, winshield washer fluid, and oil.so I guess my question is what should I go for, the stang or the vette

It was 1959 and the roads were damp that night. Left a "Big Boy" with a new '59 Pont. tri-power. Both got on it and I passed him going sideways when we spotted the law going the other way in a '57 Ford. He turned into another town while I turned into the law's town. Thought he was going to kill himself trying to keep up, so I stopped. There was a town offical laying shakening in the back seat and the ridding law said "I have never seen a car run away from us so fast (57 FI Vette). Guess where I spent that damp night in 1959?
